![]() Brewer is playing almost identically to how he played last season. He wanted to come here. What has changed that makes people think the knicks cant afford him.

![]() Shumpert is going to come off the bench at first but if he's healthy and back to form he will start by seasons end, I like Brewer he's been solid but do not become a prisoner of the moment Shumpert is a better defender and a better player.

![]() I could see our starting line up next year being:
TC Melo Brewer Shumps Felton But I don't think Kidd goes to the bench this season and I don't think we start the smaller defender of Brewer and Shumps. Our bench is going to be crazy though this season. Priggy, Shumps, Smith, Novack, Amare, Wallace. White and Camby as emergency back ups. I don't see Copeland and Thomas dressing unless there is an injury when team is at full strength. ![]() Jr Smith should see his minutes reduced and rightfully so. He has been regressing back into the JR of old recently. Plus he is not a guy you play 35-40 minutes a night like Woodson is playing him. JR should get 25 minutes, Kidd 20, Brewer 18 at SF, Shumpert 23.
I don't think Shumpert will be completely 100% back to his old self until next season anyway so he might not be a big factor in the playoffs. We'll have to see. ![]() In the playoffs we will need Shump's defense. When a guard for the other team is lighting it up, Woodson will have one of the league's best defenders on tap. I see him coming off the bench because Woodson probably wants to bring Shump back gradually regardless, and things are going well the way they are right now. I believe Shumpert understands that this team is a very deep and that Woodson will find a role for him somewhere.
Part of the reason things are going so well is because everyone accepts their role. |

The Knicks will get more points off of turnovers with him than without him. Maybe the half court set will be 'less efficient' but I'm sorry I want him on Dwyane Wade, Russell Westbrook, etc. DLeethal wrote:

Brewer isn't orth much more than that. I doubt he gets a bigger deal than what JR Smith got last offseason DLeethal wrote:

I'm sure there's a team out there, Miami? the Lakers?, that would be willing to give him at least part of the MLE after this season. Now the joy of my world is in Zion

What has changed that makes people think the knicks cant afford him. Glue guys still get paid. Landry Fields got $20 million. We gave Jared Jeffries $30 million. Worth is all relative - all it takes is one team overpaying to inflate the market. No need to worry about next year just yet. I prefer Shump (at least in last year's form) over Brewer, but fortunately we've got both until May/June. Let's put together a year that reminds Ronnie there's other perks to NY that outweigh the contract. As for Shump, it really was incredible to watch his lockdown defense last year (the Toronto game IMO was more of a Shump story than a page out of Linsanity). Bring him back slowly, but if the kid is healthy, you will not be able to keep him off the court. He will have a major role, without a doubt. |
