Why and how it affects our decisions, with the entire leagues, these next 2-3 years?2015-16 FA Pool
====================
There are so many QUALITY FA's class, probably strongest FA class ever in the entire NBA history.
After 2014/15 when Amare/Chandler, MELO??, Kidd, Camby ALL expire
Melo can opt our 1 year earlier, I hope we do not give him a Joe Johnson/Allan Houston type deal, if he opts out early.
The FA pool is just too strong, when we could have so much salary. Too many FA's with different combinations that can structure a team.
I would be quite upset if Melo opts out and forces an max extension with the opportunity to team up with all these possible super stars and stars.
The possibility to form our own big 3 is endless many teams within these next years will NOT give out long term deals to many players because of this strong FA class.
For Melo, the opportunity to make slightly less like what Miami did last year vs getting the MAX Joe Johnson like deal could be the difference for competing for a ring the following 5 years.
I would NOT be surprised if we didn't resign Tyson Chandler and let Amare walk, with all these FA's.
Iman can be due for an extension, the following year, so timing is perfect. depending on his development, Jrue Holiday/Steph Curry the neighborhood of 10m + per year extension.
Felton can also opt out of his contract
JR Smith, Brewer, and/or mini MLE within these next 2 years???
I don't think Grunweld is going to give these guy big contracts beyond this FA class UNLESS it is cap friendly like Felton's.

What strategy will we use??
MoneyBall strategy
continue to play NY style FA by overpaying for talent, biggest names and hope then MAKE IT WORK.
grab as many stars as you can that FIT together as a cohesive/defensive unit
best 2 way talents
VETs/Experienced
YoungGuns/POTENTIAL
combinations of both?
