I wish there was a tatoo removal joint that could erase the graffiti from his neck, but other than that... JR has been a solid and consistent contributor with his rebounding, defensive effort and willingness to share the ball. His defense has been exemplary and his shots have been the most selective of his NBA career.

Ronnie Brewer has been decent but JR simply brings more electricity. Of course, if it ain't broke, don't fix it... jus' sayin'.

As of late JR has basically been a starter for this team. He pulls Ronnie early and gives JR a decent amount of time with the other 4 starters before usually bringing in Sheed for Tyson.

JR and and Melo on the court together to start games would be a disaster especially once Amare returns. We need JR's instant offense off the bench. Especially when Melo sits

He's not a starter nor should he be.

When Jr plays like this, he is making a strong case to start. I definitely could see it happening next season.

We can't afford to start him. He's our only scorer off the bench, without him we'd be relying on Novak as our scorer off the bench.

So true. It's not like we have waves of offense coming off the bench. It's JR, and than Novak, maybe. When Stat comes back, it doesn't increase the amount of bench power, as they're looking at him as a starter. Unless another move is made for a scorer, we're going to be mighty thin in that department.

I think next season he should start. Hopefully the bench scoring can be addressed in the offseason (or Amare can satisfy it) and Kidd will need to be moved to the bench at some point sooner or later.

C Chandler
PF Anthony
SF Smith
SG Shumpert
PG Felton

This is lineup i can see being very successful on both ends of the floor.

Without Shumpert and Amare back, it'd be negligent to start JR Smith.

No scoring punch in the 2nd unit besides Novak.

I know everyone is basing this off the great all around game JR had yesterday but there aren't enough balls to go around for melo, amare and him. There are barely enough balls for melo and amare

Smith can play off of Melo just fine because of his ability to spot up. He handles the ball and creates a lot because he needs to carry that load off the bench, but i think he would adjust to a complimentary role as a starter just fine.

Always find it strange that people get bothered by tattoos- got some myself, don't see why it's an issue- not everyone wants to look like a business man!

Loving how JRs played so far, but keep him on the bench- he's great in that role, not so sure about him as a starter.

The only problem I see with this team is the way they get outrebounded. I would like to think of MAYBE starting sheed until amare comes back but we do need some kinda big body starting to help chandler rebound. If we are hitting our shots and getting more off and def rebounds we would be unstoppable.

Tats are cool. JR is in New York. If he is thinking about maximizing his appeal from a marketing standpoint, the least he can do is consider that the neck is a bit overdone and very poor quality artwork at that.

It ain't the tats, its the sloppy application of them that detracts from his identity.

We've got two players who can create their own shot at will -- JR and Melo. We're best off with one of them on the court at all times to bail us out of possessions where the sets just don't work and the clock is winding down. So, IMO it doesn't matter so much whether they both start. It's more important to be disciplined with the rotations so one is always on the court. If JR plays ~30 mins a game and Melo ~35, and one is always on the court, then we're looking at 17 minutes where they're playing together. The way JR is going, I definitely want 6-8 of those at the end of the game. Where the other 9-11 come, I don't really care.

HIs tat's depict his identity. An arrogant young man who is impulsive.

11 games does not change a man that fast.

The idiot cartoons on his neck got to go.

His baskeball talent has never been in question.

Last year he talked about "Growing up" and now we read he treated road trips as play time and was out in NYC partying ever other nite during the season?

Lets see how he does before we starting giving him nobel peace prizes or humanitarian awards. Im rooting for him to develope on and off the court. But Im not giving it to him quite yet.
