Obviously not having one of the best perimeter defenders in the nba really hurts agianst faster guards like parker and so on. Our guards seem to be getting beat a lot and tyson has to come up for help and leaves his man wide open. Now im not excusing Tyson because i have been very disappointed in him this year. However I think having shump healthy will help tyson more defensively

Having a healthy Shump would help Stat on defense too. Doesn't make Stat a good defender.

No doubt, we are missing my boy Shump. Without Shump, guys like Harden or Mayo go crazy from the perimeter without anyone to slow them down. Not having Shump makes me nervous whenever we play guard-driven teams.

But I'm not sure how much that is affecting Tyson. He seems a step slow laterally. I'm wondering if he's playing hurt or something.

Shump coming back will hurt us offensively. Who's minutes will he take?

Kidd's? I hope not.

JR? He better not?

Brewer? Not that many minutes.

Brewer being hurt the last few games has really hurt our perimeter defense. When/If Shump and Brewer get healthy they will cause havoc on the perimeter.

There really won't be an offensive letdown by adding Shump b/c Amar'e will return before he does, bringing his 17-20 ppg to the lineup. His addition will offset any loss of O by the team when we then bring in Shump. And Shump would help us SO MUCH defensively that it's worth it to play him solid minutes.

Shumpert should be groomed in Kidd's role currently. Shumpert has potential in knocking down 3s, playing great defense and being a strong in transition.

Tyson's "bad start" is a case of perception being out of line with reality. Take a look at his stats and you'll see that what he's performance is in line with past seasons. The only difference is that he's playing less minutes, which is a good thing. No need for Woody to burn Ty out this early in the season.

I don't mind if he is playing with Kidd - I think that this would be the best scenario for Shump in the back court.

Watching the games, this is clearly not the case. This is not the same Tyson we saw last year - stats do lie.

@ mrKnickShot IA. Even if his stats are similar to what they've been in the past, to the eye, his defensive intensity is not what it was last year. Even TC himself was critical of his play vs the Rockets. Also, his blocks per game are down, so in that case, it's clear he isn't protecting the rim the way he could be.

Tyson Chandler was a player no one wanted before he played in Dallas. He did nothing with Charlotte and was literally a salary dump. The Mavs had an incredible playoff run and Jason Terry and JJ were leading the charge, he got his money because the heat couldn't figure out a zone. He had a nice season and he's a solid player.

But, as far as big men go you can go through the league and even the eastern conference he isn't elite. Varejo, Horford, Noah, Lopez, Hibbert all these guys bring more to the table. Through in Gortat, Gasol, Howard, Jefferson, Asik in the West and before you know it a guy we paid 14MM and blew our amnesty to sign is one of the league leaders in technicals and not really doing what he was brought here to do.

tonights game will be interesting. I mean Brooks has had success against tyson but to be honest most centers have had success against him this season. the only game he did a good job was the pacer game on hibbert

sometimes he doesn't even try to contest the basket which, gets to me. On Friday, one of the guards was driving toward the rim on the weak side and Tyson just stood and watched him lay the ball up. From his position it seemed like all he had to do was extend his arm for an easy block.

Maybe dude is just snake bit and afraid of picking up early fouls. Speaking of fouls, dude commits some of the dumbest fouls I've seen. Literally grabbing guys and then bytching when the whistle blows.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I am hoping he is still recovering from the injury he suffered towards the end of training camp. If this is who he is now the Knicks maybe in trouble.

Looks like Tyson is starting to get the juices brewing against the Nyets.

Maybe it's hard always keeping that aggression level at 1000%??? Even for our Angry DPOY.

Tyson's offensive rebounding has been great this season but he can't grab a defensive rebound to save his life. It's really puzzling.
