Here is the thing, Gallo was not not the center piece and the trade allowed Denver to gain flexibility and pursue a roster in a different manner than the knicks. So its just not one player vs another.

Knicks had to take an unorthodox path to fill its roster needs.

I think Denver has a longer time horizon than the Knicks N*TPhobic conquest.

And does it really matter if the knicks are not that "Pure" in its roster construction?

This fantastic fable of "The older players with something to prove flocked to save the Mecca and return its fans to the lost glory so long a go!"

Who cares why, if you dig the team just enjoy it!

This notion that since we are 7-1 somehow validates everything and the arguments ensuing to substantiate its reality is really getting old. Just enjoy the games.

Two clubs took different paths.

Maybe its a "Win-Win?"

and if so, why is that so bad?

Win-Win my ass. I'm a knicks fan. I don't give a **** about Denver. We gave up a package of role players for an elite NBA talent and Chauncey Billups. Billups then turned into Chandler. Some ppl here think those role players only needed more role players to become a championship squad or want to lament about what other elite talent we couldve acquired with a similar or lessor package.

And for the Melo haters, Gallo was the center piece. He was the object of their affection.

Others want to add that Melo isn't an elite talent. Which is really laughable. They want to couch their criticisms in language like: he isn't a complete player. Newsflash there are like three two way stars better than Melo in the league. Lebron, Wade and Kobe and last I checked they were not available. Its stupid. A valid criticism, sure. A reason to undervalue his talent, not at all.

Watching the youngns was fun. It was a rollercoaster ride. We beat a few elite teams, but lost far more games to sub-par talent. I enjoyed the ride but never deluded myself into thinking the team was built to win it all. That team didn't have a chance in hell of beating Miami. This team has a much better chance to beat Miami, and that means we have a shot at the finals. Thats what you want from your team and finally, thats what we have. Denver doesn't have that. If you want to call that a win-win fine. BUt I'm not particularly concerned about the Knuggets.

Carmelo is Elite, he can score, shoot, drive, pass, rebound, defend, he can do it all and at a high level. He's clutch, a match up nightmare and opposing coaches send 2 or 3 guys at him each time he touches the ball, thats Elite in every way

we gave up scraps for studs and are in a great position for the future with a head coach getting the most out of all our players

Dude was a top 4 talent on Olympic Team and now he is only a "good" talent..lol...clowns I say. Good Talent doesn't make it to the All Star Game Annually, Good Talent doesn't almost singlehandily win a NCAA champion, Good Talent doesn't Almost beat a boston team by himself 2 years ago when he was playing with scrubs. Straight up disrespectful calling Melo a Good Talent. He's not Lebron but nobody else either.

Durant is not a great defender he has length but no strength , Melo is actually a better defender, Rose isn't a great defender either .

Melo is and always has been an elite talent.

What kept him from putting it all together to be an elite player was his self-inflicted negative tendencies: spotty shot selection, disinterested defensive effort, and reluctance to move the ball.

As far as I'm concerned, he's worked to address all three of those this season and I'm seeing a top ten guy out there right now. Maybe even top five.
