Knicks may be in a learning mode , most of them are carrying a chip on their shoulders for various reasons.

Woodson- Now that Danphoney is coach in L.A , he wants to show the world he's a better coach when it comes to getting the most out of his players and will be playing for something beyond 1st rd of the playoffs this season.

Camby - Chose NY over defending champs where he was guaranteed a rotation spot once in shape.

J.Smith- People said he was a knuckle head who partied too much, maturity level questioned after 9 seasons.

Felton - Was labeled a player who didn't like coming into a season in shape and wants to prove he's a better fit than Lin at the starting Point Guard.

Wallace - Out for two yrs was thought to be done in the association.

Melo - Wants to prove he can be a leader on both side of the court, wants to prove critics wrong.

Prigioni- At 35 oldest rookie ever in the league wants to show seasoned overseas vets can hold their own.

K.Thomas - Oldest players in the Association , wants to show he still has gas left in the tank when he needs to be
driven.

Brewer - Proves he can fit in and be as effective as he was in Utah when players are rewarded for moving without the ball.

Chandler - He wants to show everyone in Dallas they won a chip because of his defensive tenacity and is an integral part of any championship run.

Kidd - At 39 still takes care of his body and wants to win a chip in the Tri-State Area after being crushed playing for the Nets in Finals.

Shumpert - Wants to show he's still the best defender on the team and prove he's not a rookie anymore and will be even better this season after injury.

Amare - Wants a Championship after being the initial piece to come to NY. Wants to get rid of the injury prone label and become dominate again with him monstrous finishes with 3 pgs who like to pass the rock.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Some of these guys are being paid good money.

Lets stop making up value statements for these guys.

Smith can't get a long term deal worth a darn cuz he is a bone head.

We gave Camby a 3 years deal for more than Min.

I can go on and on.

Its all good, but getting carried away a bit.

Of course these are my opinions. LOL Many in the Association are getting paid a lot of Jack, but most don't play with a chip on their shoulder. Knicks have an entire roster and coach with something to prove with an NY attitude to show for it.

And quite a few seems underpaid or normal market.

Brewer...absolutely.

Kidd....definitely, when compared to his counterpart of the same age...Nash.

Sheed....yep

Camby was brought in with spare parts, and i think his 3rd year is a team option.

Cope, Pablo and White are mins.

Smith is playing well above 2.8 mil

Why can't you just let fans be fans? You constantly police positive threads. Let just have fun and speculate.

And when backed into a corner, always say:

"Nice little Knickheads, let the games play out and then we shall see if your trite little positivisms are warranted, okay?"

Its fictional comic book view of a fan.

State it as such than try to make a legit account of why players are hear. Im reading it and had to stop of the fanboy infused fictional account of why players are here as if they are "the league of justice" bound together to save their reputations?

Sheed: Was promised minutes and saw the potential. How many contenders would take him on? Camby: Miami offered a vet min. NY offered a lot more. Felton: at career crossroads and got a multi year deal. He is out to prove his being a lottery pick and the top Point prospect out of highschool was no fluke. He needs stability and knicks can give him that. Larry had him in fits as Larry is tough on his PG's and when they drafted Augustine by Michael who did not want to pay Ray, he left for his first tour in NY. Kurt: prove what? He is a capable player at his age? He been doing for the last 4 years. Smith: Could have made a bit more but I think knicks made a promise to take care of him if he stays via bird rights. This walking cartoon who even admits to partying too much last year has proven untrust worthy in the league to get a mulit year deal despite his incredible talent. I like his game. I don't like him. I am a knick fan and would like to see him earn his respect to get a deal and maybe at the same time maturity to take care of those who are helping him. Chandler: Multi years offers in NY or San Fran. This California kid on record to say he wanted to be in NYC and take in the cultural experience. Saw the potential of him here and the 14 mil. He left Dallas because Cube offered him a (high salary!) one year deal. Being healthy for the first time he was in a good position to get a multi year deal elsewhere. Kidd: Saw Dallas was on the decline and matter of time before his minutes would be. What does he need to prove? He has done it all. He is just continueing his brilliant career and doing a hell of a job. He is the same dick most of you hated when he was in Jersey but now he is a romantic hero saving us? Please. Im happy he is a knick and like what he does on the court. Off the court its his own business.

Negative? Well only if you live in the land of pixie dust and unicorns and believe these players are your friends. Do I care why these guys are here? Not really, it does not matter as long as they are doing their jobs. Used to read how happy Marbury was hear and all he had to prove. Heard this crap over and over and its freaking fan boy fantasy crap.

BTW, I like games, the ball movement and melo/smith develop into better players. All the things Karl could not get out of them but now mature they are doing here.

Whats negative? I read all the stories in the press as to why these guys are here. Where do I bash the construction of the team?

I bash Dolan and the reason for years of Knick crap we endured. I like Lin and liked MDA and I liked Felton as much that it was part reason I did not like the trade. Im glad Felton is back, but we suffered for a season and a half for being under rostered and watched us break down last season.

I support our coach's. Love the job Woodson is doing. But its not "Hoosiers" either. Some around here have made this guy out like some mythical guardian who keeps his players off the streets and away from gangs and helps them with their homework! He is holding multimillionaires like Smith and Melo to a professional standard that they play up to not just their contract but be the player they want to be. Ok, if he can do it the team wins and he wins. ITs great BTW, but its not like he is saving youth or anything.

Let fans be fans? Nobody is stopping anyone but im calling out BS when I smell it.

All I say is its a long season and lots of games ahead. Im looking forward to it but some are really looking forward to wins as if they are already done. Thats fine, but at the same time the bitching and moaning of disappointment and calling for players and coach's head are at the other end of the spectrum equally annoying and detached from reality. Like some of the "trade checker" deals.

Nalod this analysts is legit ! These guys aren't just playing for money, these guys are playing for a Championship and don't even play with a roster at full strength and has the best record in the league. Those older guys on the team want a Chip bad and each one of them have a story behind signing for the Knicks. Head Coach Mike Woodson probably has the biggest chip on his shoulder. This guy was drafted by the Knicks and never in his wildest dreams did he think he would be coaching for a Championship in the city that never sleeps playing at the Mecca of Basketball after being an assistant under Danphoney.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

The Replacements

playa2 you are dead on it. Thank you.

The Yankees brought Joe Torre in from Atlanta, who fired him. Joe was not bad as a manager of men. Woodson brings the same understated command of personalities. Mike Woodson invests his entire summer in keeping close to his men at the Olympics, calling in a few favors from Hakeem and dinner dates.

For one chance to shine on the brightest stage in the world, would any veteran player, knowing that a ring is a possibility, take advantage of that opportunity? You damn skippy.

Marcus Camby ("sup Hartford?") and Kurt Thomas remember how much fun they had in 1999. What better place to end a career on top? Whether they play or not, they bring a sense of continuity that we desperately need amid all the change. Amar'e is the longest tenured Knicks player. Camby and Kurt look good wearing 23 and 40.

Rasheed Wallace understands Broadway offers a seasoned actor an intense spotlight. He always wanted to play in New York. The "Sheed" chants never happened on the road when he was with Detroit. This is different. This is Shakespearian. "Doth the ball lie?"

Jason Kidd always played well in The Garden. Now, he can make the extra pass with the crowd behind him. Beating Dallas was sweet. Another ring, on his terms, would be much sweeter.

Raymond Felton never wanted to leave. That is no chip. That is Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz clicking her orange adidas, "there's no place like home..."

Ronnie Brewer simply wants to feel wanted. Minimum deal? No problem. Cannot wait to play the Bulls. Just an old school baller who does the things that make a difference, happy to feel wanted. If The Garden shows him love, he will show them love back.

Pablo Prigioni will have stories for the family back in Rio Tercero, Argentina. News travels faster from New York City. Pablo's hands are fairly quick. A pickpocket in New York? Perfect fit.
