nazr is very very good against teams who dont have a real C. I would love to have a real post up C and move him to PF or if we could somehow get a 7 footer who can play PF keep him at C. This was the steal of all the trades -really getting Nazr for Doleac and a 2.
It also showed me something that i knew for awhile--i would love to go away from H2o somehow and fins a 2G who can play D rebound and make shots with the ability to bring in it to the hoop. It would be beneficial if we could move H2O to 6th man both for the team and his career length. We need to somehow give Demarr a solid chance to see what he can do[and we may be forced to do so] and that isnt a bad thing. Im not letting 1-2 games cloud my judgement, but last night was encouraging--he's just a very long player--maybe he turns into our diamond in the rough John Starks[without the intensity]

How you win basketball games

establish the offensive post-flow into an inside out game rebound and defend. Right now we have a great deal of depth in the post--we just need a true diesel engine in there.

man, briggs, i usually disagree with you when you bash the knicks. now i am disagreeing with you when you give props to the knicks. go figure. let me tell you something, we frigging played the hawks last night, possibly the worst team i have ever seen in my lifetime ( maybe the mid- nineties sixers team was worse). yes, they beat the lakers who probably came to the game from the countless strip clubs in atlanta and played tipsy. i am not impressed with the victory because we are SUPPOSED to beat this team. not only beat this team but beat them bad. so what we did not have houston and tim thomas. hell, marbury could be hurt too and i would expect the same result. now if they play wednesday just as effectively then we can talk about being impressed.

Beating Atlanta is only important if you loose lol.

No team deserves any props for beating the Hawks. They have like 2 real NBA players on the roster.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

one thing about Atl... the have beaten Sac and Dal in the last couple weeks, they have beaten SAn and of their 18 wins I think 15 are against winning teams. They can score with any team in the NBA.

With Penny hurting now also we have no wing players at all. Is Frank eligible to come off for Wed? He could get some time at 1/2 with Marbury... help eat some minutes... Otherwise its a lot of Demaar Johnson.

I was feeling bad about losing to the "worst team in the NBA," the Bulls, and then saw the lineup the Hawks put out there. No. 2 threat was Chris Crawford, for god's sake. I don't care about their record, that team was sad, sadder than any I've seen for a long while too, and several steps below the Bulls. So, agree, it's hard to take too much satisfaction from the w against the Hawks. But I'm glad players we're going to need to rely on like Demarr and Nazr stepped up and I do think there will be a carry-over effect for them in coming games. Who knows, DeMarr may be DeMan.

A win is a win... the only hope we have is that the Knicks get maybe the last 5 games of the regular season with everyone healthy, otherwise we really stand no chance to develop chemistry in time for the playoffs.

That is... if we make the playoffs.

The odds are stacked up against us with all of these injuries. We're down 2 starters (arguably 3 if you include Mutombo) plus our 6th man. That's a lot to overcome. DerMarr will really need to step up if Penny has to miss some time.

I believe our schedule gets really tough in April... when the stakes are higher. I still have to believe we can make some waves in the playoffs, though less so since our team chemistry is horrible compared to just prior to the Doleac/KVH trade. The addition of Vin Baker helps as does the development of Sweetney. Perhaps the most key player involved is DerMarr Johnson.

If DJ can pull a Hubert Davis and fill in long enough for our starters to get healthy enough to play, well... then we'll lose a game 6 to the Rockets in the finals on a missed last second 3... and have a SG drop the ball in game 7. :)

thats a team that has been puttinmg up big points beat Dallas at home and has some vets who can go off scoring wise. obviously they dont have much in the post--but we couldve been had with two players down and marbury hurting. i mean im encouraged by demarr's play last night--he did this one other time and im encouraged by nazr--i still DO NOT want him as our starting C going forward[because he snot big enough] but at 6-10 248 he sure could play a nice combo role with the right player next to him. im not fooled nor should anyone else be--nazr couldnt check centers like big z curry etc.. anyway anyhow we still need a c first and foremost going forward

Dont be suprised if ISiah just got Nazr for a trade piece. Get him playing well at center for 20-30 games. He's got a reasonable contract... maybe he's part of something much bigger in the future. He's perfect off the bench where he would put up nice numbers against other team's second units. Maybe Nazr is part of a sign and trade for Dampier... not impossible.

Vin Baker has been doing a good job of drawing double teams in the post in his short tenure. He also is pretty decent at passing out of the post. I'd consider giving him our MLE for next season if no one else becomes available.
