13 points 8 rebounds. Nothing flashy. Consistent effort and across the board contributions.

Look closer and 4 of the rebounds were on the offensive end. Huge. 2 steals. Team has 12. Holds Joe Crowder to 7 points. Nice.

Our defense is great for a reason.

yellowboy - you got jokes. Brewer just looks like a throwback. Absolutely old school. You cannot quite describe his impact but you feel better with him on the court. There is a quiet presence to his game. As Bill Bradley might describe, "He knows where he is on the court."

Brewer doubled up Novak's threes tonight. Man's up on defense. Can hit the open shot. Finish around the rim. Bruce Bowen with a more well-rounded offense. And he's on a minimum contract.

Kudos Grunwald!

People don't understand how important these guys are to a winning ball club...He is a glue guy..Nothing fancy or pretty...Does the dirty work and a little of everthing...MDA tried to have Jeffries in that role but the only thing was we weren't winning...And Jeffries wasn't this good...

The scary thing is that he is not healthy yet. When he gets his explosion back he will finish better. Also, I hope Shump is watching Brewer play D and is taking notes. Brewer plays hard tough nose D but without fouling. IF shump can learn how not to foul look out.

Shrump may be the premier perimeter defender in the league...

He is what we expected Landry fields to be, he is meshing with Carmelo, hitting the open shots, cutting to the basket, getting extra possessions for the team and playing great defense.

I cant wait for shumpert and brewer to be on the floor at the same time

All these things were said about Fields once upon a time.
Fields was pulling lots of rbs and slashing to the hoop. And a glue guy.

Until he started to stink.

Only thing is that Brewer is a more talented player. Landry came out of nowhere and really faded much faster than some remember. Brewer has had more years and success at being this guy on teams.

Brewer has done this through out his career not just half a season. The open jumper is just the cherry on top.

Fields was at best an average defender even during his first year, brewer is a great defender

Why wasn't Brewer on Mayo?

Anyway, I can only imagine the stifling defense of a lineup with Brewer and (healthy) Shumpert at the same time. Our team is built nicely to try to neutralize the strengths of the Miami Heat multiple strong wing defenders and a LOT of size up front... but we'll save that discussion for another topic.

I see a lot of punch drunkedness in here.. LOL.. if that is even a word... look at career numbers, fields first year or two here, he was pretty much a 50% shooter like brick brewer, but fields is just a much better rebounder, his numbers show it... and they are pretty much similar scorer... when right, fields is very effective and honestly a better open court player....I don't get the constant knocking of fields , it isn't going to make brewer.. this thread is just brutal.. really..

Punch Drunk Brutality

When right? Landry had his moment. He made us smile. Better open court player? What da hell does that mean. Anyone can play in a freakin' open court. It is what you do in traffic that counts. Can you mesh with the other four guys and adapt? Fields, sadly, could not adapt. We wish him (cough) well in Toronto.

Landry Fields is the enemy. Ergo, he gets knocked. Brewer plays for us. He gets major dap. That is how the cookie crumbles dude.

you don't know what better open court mean? do some research, you may not be ready for this discussion then...

yea, fields is the enemy, because he isn't here.. homerism at work here... never a good thing.... I am a basketball fan, forgive me if I think a guy in another uniform is good and a scrub even in a knick uniform is still.... a scrub...

tkf - How many square feet are allowed around a player to be defined as "the open court"?

Homerism? Save you meaningless labels for someone who gives a rats butt. The Answer Man is a Knicks fan who bleeds orange and blue. If you cannot get with that, that is your issue, not The Answer Mans.

One more thing, Marcus Camby is a better ball handler than Landry Fields in the "open" court.

it is not meaningless, simply because it clouds your thinking and it makes for a conversation that lacks integrity on your part.. I bleed orange and blue just as much as you, but that doesn't mean you throw away reasoning and facts.... this is what you are doing....

As far as marcus camby being a better ball handler than fields in the open court... Lol..another ridiculous comment, but have at it.. camby was once a fantastic player, much better than that brick laying, layup missing guy we have called brewer..

you see.. two can play this game...

Brewer was a very good signing. He is starting to get back in game shape afer surgery. I cant wait to have iman/brewer at the same time because the permieter defense would be unstoppable
