The Knicks-Nets game scheduled for Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn was postponed on Wednesday because of Hurricane Sandy’s devastation of the mass transit system.

The announcement will come a day after the N.B.A. said the game would be played. General Manager Glen Grunwald of the Knicks and his Nets counterpart, Billy King, confirmed the postponement.

The game was to be the first regular-season contest at the newly opened arena, which was built above a subway and Long Island Rail Road transportation hub. But fans were going to find it nearly impossible to reach the arena because all subway and rail service was knocked out because of flooding. Some of it has since been restored.

thats weird because Prok said it was going forward this morning????
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Just checked NBA.com, nothing there about the game being postponed. Game still scheduled on Knicks main page.

NEW YORK -- The highly-anticipated regular-season opener Thursday between the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Knicks, which was to be the first NBA regular-season game at the $1 billion Barclays Center, has been postponed due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, the Nets confirmed.

At this point, a makeup date has not been announced.

The NBA announced on Tuesday that the game would take place as scheduled. But shutdowns of mass transit due to the hurricane wouldve caused significant problems for fans trying to attend the game.
