with the big boys and we will look stupid against teams like chicago who has 1! you need to be able to get points in the paint that dont come from garbage putbacks.

we are really even with the sht teams in the league. we were lucky as all heck that we came back from 27 in the 3rd against Mil and even luckier against wash+ we were fortunate that J kidd ad kmart were nt there

we shouldve rebuilt!

OBJECTIVE: Get a true 5 who can score.

Amount in the NBA: Very few.

Look at the East: DET, NJ, and IND all have players who can score back to the basket. Eddy Curry (as shown tonight) can as well. Other than that, who is there?

You can't rebuild with the contracts on this team. I'm so sick of hearing the Knicks shoudl've rebuilt. If they had kept the team as it was and "rebuilt" with Maciej Lampe (a SF in a C's body with bad feet) and Milos Vujanic (2nd best PG in Europe a few years ago behind Marko Jaric, who is averaging 8 points and 4 rebounds over on LAC. We're getting the guy who isn't as good as him. And I don't know if you've noticed it, but the Knicks now have Marbury (27), TThomas (28), Sweetney (22), Nazr (25). Isiah has gotten younger players. Not every Euro with a J is Dirk Nowtizki, there are also some Primoz Brevec's out there. Who is Primoz? Exactly. Isiah's not done, he'll find a C.

I think the Knicks already have a guy on the roster who can score with his back to the basket in Sweetney. His post game will come along eventually.

I'd say finding Houston's replacement is first.

we lost that game because we struggled to score. We played strong defense in the 2nd half.. the problem is if TT AND Houston are playing we cant survive a bad shooting night from Marbury.

Of course we need a better 5... about 24 teams do.

Good take.

It is real easy to say that the knicks need something.....
who out there is better than Nazr that won' cost the Knicks over the exemption?

Would Portland trade the Knicks Rahim? I can't see Rahim continue to see only 20 minutes per. Right now even though NY don't have picks the Knicks do have tradable guys now. With Ratliff and Zack, KT would be a great back-up for them...

Rahim is awfull... I dont want him. Port is making out like Bandits from that trade because Ratliff has locked down the middle is blocking 4 shots a game for them... he's been awesome. Rahim is off the bench and playing about 15-18 minutes a game because his D is a joke and he gives them nothing they dont have already.

I think right now the Knicks best bet is to be a little conservative. If they get lucky and someone like Raweed wants to come great... other wise I look to trade into the first round and get some young players in the pipe line. Same for next year. Hold onto the expiring contracts this year in Deke, Harrington and TSki. Next year its Penny and TT. Just be patient and look for a deadline deal for a good post player that can take you to the next level. Otherwise just refresh the pipeline.

actually we lost the game because we dont have anyone on the roster except deke who can check Curry. we cant match up with the Bulls in the frontcourt.

I think isiah knows this and will be aggresive trying to improve the post. We need size. Id be willing to pay a good price to get Arajuo including giving up Sweetney and Thomas if it came down to it. PFs can be replaced, a big anchor post up C is what we need. Its going to be very hard to secure a pro big man that is established because simply other teams have much better deals to give than we do. But a draft pick is different--there are plenty of teams from 8 on down who may want some bonafides. If we can get a real C by giving up either nazr and sweetney or kT and sweetney--its something I would do. Then sit on Stromile swifts frontdoor at 12:01 and hand him a 6 year 32mm$ contract and see what happens with Memphis.

Briggs - we have needed one ever since Ewing went on the decline - this is an obvious thread. We now have a core that a strong 5 would fit nicely into - the problem is there arent many 5's out there that can do what Shaq, Duncan, and Garnett do. Game changers are not a dime a dozen - otherwise the east wouldnt be so weak.

bottom line is we need a C--he doesnt have to be patrick ewing. he needs to be able to score in the low post and have a big enough body to defend and rebound against big players. Marbury is the franchise player-but NO team not even the BULLS played with a good system C. I think Arajuo is good enough to avergae 14 points 11 rebounds 3 assits 1.5 blocks right away. Now it's not the numbers that are so imperative, but the other intangibles a 6-11 285 pound C brings--mainly clogging the paint.

we have a lot of needs a lot of needs. but i really believe some -like back up 1 can be taken care of easily and $cheap/ I dont expect Norris to be on the team next year--we can write that off as a 4mm $ mistake.

Arajuo, while I like him and think he's going to be a solid NBA C, I wouldn't throw Sweetney at him. Sweetney pretty much dominated against the top teams in the NCAA last year, while Arajuo put up either identical or inferior numbers to inferior teams. BYU did not have a difficult schedule and I don't believe he averaged 20 points or 10 rebounds.

I think the Sonics would be willing to take expiring contracts for Calvin Booth, which would put them under the cap after next season, in exchange for their pick.
