Two teams that are built with completely diff. philosophies (Denver's GM kind of forced to go with the no star thing, duh).

Denver

- forced to build without a "superstar" (whatever that means to you)
- no proven crunch time scorer (allegedly)
- young, inexperienced, run n gun
- flexible roster going forward, $63M total committed, tons of tradeable assets
- young, super quick PG leading the charge

NYK

- built around stars/superstars
- definite go to crunch time scorer (allegedly)
- old, veteran, defense first
- locked in to current roster to chase title,
- likes to pass up countless PGs in draft, shipped young PG out of town, Jason Kidd in

Both teams have potential to finish with 45+ wins or crash and burn due to

AGE, Dolan's magic touch in NY

Youth, not much in the way of D outside of Wilson Chandler, Iggy in Denver

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Star vs superstar two entirely different things. Both teams are in the same boat. Knicks just have a better chance at a ring in three years if the roster is managed correctly because one team plays in new york the other in no mans land

Supposedly in the playoffs, when you can play your best 5 heavy minutes, depth isn't much of an advantage. Perhaps that's where our late season starting 5 shines:

1. A skinny motivated Ray Felton one season wiser studying under Kidd
2. Shumpert, having recovered faster than anyone who has ever torn an ACL, also wiser and better
3. the New Mature Complete Melo and D
4. the New Amare with Post Game and D
5. ChanDler

So sad that Shump spent the offseason rehabbing instead of working on his J, etc considering this season is out best shot. yeah we have a 3 year window but we also have players who get older every passing season..

The Knicks just need to acquire Nene, and we'll have assembled the important parts of the Nuggets circa 2008, East Coast edition. (Carmelo, Camby, JR Smith). Love them George Karl coached players. Even got Felton some Karl-coachin'. We were so into the 2008 Nuggets that we took a look at BirdMan and K-Mart. (shame we had to let go of Billups to get Chandler)

The Nuggets are sort of the Knicks 2010 West Coast Edition. Chandler, Gallo, and Mozgov... but wait, there's more. Anthony Carter, Anthony Randolph, and Corey Brewer (yeah, not technically a Knick).

Iggy was often the last shot guy in Philly. Not the superstar type shooter but he will be the Alpha dog on that team.

Sometimes that is the kind of guy you need on the floor in the last two minutes. He has the olympic cred and he makes big plays on defense. I can see them going to him to close out a game but make no mistake Gallo is going to have to step it up. Gallo is not an alpha player.

I think Iggy on that team makes a lot of sense.

its an intriguing story and the two franchises will be linked so long as melo is a knick and the other parts (gallo, Shy Willie and Mozz) are with them.

If Denver freefalls for any reason, and starts dumping salaries, what affect woould it possibly have on these discussions if we should somehow bring the Mayor back into the fold? If Woody is set on JR off the bench, what if we have Willie starting at the 2?
No poison for JimmieD to swallow here...

Wilson Chandler
2012/13 $5,930,415
2013/14 $6,344,164
2014/15 $6,754,913
2015/16 $7,171,662

Or will this always be primarily a Roosterlove-driven psychosis?

I believe the Knicks will be the better team this year barring serious injuries.

I am not comparing Iggy and Gallo to MJ and Pippen but...Gallo will be Iggy's Pippen. I really like Iggy's game. The only thing missing is a consistent jumper.

damn I forgot Iggy. Denver has improved. Probably right there with the Knicks but both won't contend for a ring any time soon

Iggys only flaw is the max contract that inflates expectation exposing his weekness with his inconsistant jumper. He brings a lot to that roster a the 2. He can guard a 3 if need be.

I like the Denver model. I also like the Houston model right now. They have assembled some really good young talent.

PG - JLin, Machado, TD, Livingston
SG - Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, Delfino,
SF - Parsons, Gary Forbes, Marcus Morris, Royce White, Terrence Jones
PF - Montiejunas, Patrick Patterson, Jajuan Johnson
C - Asik, Greg Smith

That is some young talent.

BRIGGS - What do you think of the talent they assembled? A lot of those guys you have touted before the draft.

No one wanted Iggy around here when he was Philly but now he can walk on water because he's playing with Gallo

There were a few here that wanted Iggy. I was iffy because he would not mesh well with Amare due to the inconsistent jumper.

actually quite a few people wanted Iggy for Amare but we knew Philly would want nothing to do with Amare. Alan Hahn said today amare looks slim but still not as explosive as the old Amare. Back injuries will do that to ya. There is no such thing as a minor back injury
