Yes, In de face!!!

October 03, 01:54 PM EDT

NEW YORK, October 3, 2012 – New York Knickerbockers Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations and General Manager Glen Grunwald announced today that the team has signed free agent forward/center Rasheed Wallace to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wallace, 6-11, 230-pounds, holds career averages of 14.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.33 blocks over 33.0 minutes in 1,088 games (956 starts) over 15 seasons with Washington, Portland, Atlanta, Detroit and Boston. He is a four-time NBA All Star (2000, 2001, 2006, 2008), who won an NBA Championship with Detroit in 2004, alongside then-assistant coach Mike Woodson.

He last played for Boston in 2009-10, averaging 9.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists over 22.5 minutes in 79 regular season games (13 starts) and 6.1 points and 3.0 rebounds over 17.1 minutes in 24 postseason games (one start). He was originally selected by Washington in the first round (fourth

Despite his reputation Sheed is supposed to be really smart. I think under Larry Brown he knew how to run plays from every position on the floor.

Hopefully he can teach Amare a lil something about defense and it's not just Chandler telling people where they need to be in games and in practice.

CTC!

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I'm not happy with this move. He's too far removed from bringing any value to any team.

Ten Reasons To Love Signing Rasheed Wallace

10. "Some people say I'm mean and this and that. On one hand that's cool. That keeps away all the riffraff and all the bugaboos."

9. If he cannot play up to Woodson's standards, he will be cut. Plain and simple. It ain't that deep.

8. "Both teams played hard my man."

7. Extra Amar'e Insurance. You never know.

6. Philly is only a two hour drive. He avoided interviews following games because he was in the training room calling his moms.

5. Late night team flights (after victories) with Camby, Kidd, Kurt, Amar'e and Shump will make Kings of Comedy look like a PBS documentary.

4. Tried to psych up his teammates by yelling, "Let's go out and play like we're Chicago on NBA Jam."

3. Skilled 6'11 men with outside range do not grow on trees. Dean Smith loved him.

2. Got thrown out of the McDonald's All-American Game.

1. The MSG media policy is out the window. The first dumb question from a beat writer after a Knicks loss will be met with a priceless reply.

We will see how this pans out. I am not crazy about the signing though. I am looking forward to the first pre-season game which is about 8 days away! GO KNICKS!

11. We now have five men who are 6'10 or taller.

You cannot teach height.

One thing that the ehat lacks is height and toughness inside. we may have age but those guys we have are still tough and good defenders inside

13. We didn't lose some jeans shorts, we gained a rugged, old school, Charles Oakley type baller who talks back to anyone. Donald Trump better watch his ass.

The title of this thread creeps me out.

What does Nalod think?

Who freaking cares, if he can contribute fine. I didn't like the guy in college or his manners on the court. I respect his talent. If he still has it thats great, if not we'll cut him loose. I would suspect its going to be lots of pulls and tears on our bench.

Would have preffered a guy like Blatch who in the right circumstances surrounded by vets raises his game.

But if Rashweed can do the job and help the team win he can win me over.

I agree. However, Blatche and New York would be interesting because Blatche is a heavy nightclub guy. I have lived in DC for a few years and Blatche is a known partier as in 7 nights a week.... We will see how he fares in Brooklyn. I think he could be okay since he has reason to be hungry now after being cut by the Wizards and now on a minimum contract.

What does The Answer Man think?

If you cannot man up enough to handle a thread title, maybe you would feel safer watching TeleTubbies.

Blatche missed his first N.B.A. training camp in 2005 after being shot in the chest during an attempted carjacking. In 2007, he was charged with soliciting a prostitute, who turned out to be an undercover police officer. A year later, he was arrested on a charge of speeding and was cited (for the third time) for driving with a suspended license. Blatche earned further infamy last year for hosting a party known as Lap Dance Tuesday at a Miami club.

Blatche was so out of shape last season that the Wizards at one point shut him down and publicly listed the reason as “conditioning.”

“A lot of mistakes,” he said of his Washington tenure. “But I was a young guy. And not to make no excuses for myself, I did a lot of things. And I also didn’t do a lot of things. But I was punished for the things I did and I learned from it, and I’m moving on.”

“A wake-up call,” Blatche called it. “The job of my life, the job I love doing, can be taken from me in an instant, a blink of my eyes. To see what happened to me, to see that I have another chance, I don’t want that to happen again.”

(Avery) Johnson is not looking back, either. “No concern whatsoever,” he said of Blatche’s missteps in Washington. He added, “It’s a clean slate.” - Howard Beck

We shall see.

He got his 14mil or so guaranteed via amnesty. Night clubs and trouble are everywhere. If he is serious then he could be a monster.

Just thinking of a guy that can player starters minutes if injury befalls Amare. Blatche comes with baggage for sure! Why he is chaeap and awas available.

I posted a video of him at a pro-am over the summer. Dude still has hops.

I don't think he is going to be able to give you more than 10 quality NBA minutes a night though.

“(Coach Woodson) told me his ideas and his plans and I just wanted to see if I could fit in somewhere. If Coach needs me for two minutes, then I’m out there for those two minutes going hard. If it’s 10 or 15 minutes, then I’m going hard for whatever certain amount of minutes he has me there for."

So, how many hard fouls do the Knicks have available to give (from guys willing to give them)? By my count:

Kurt Thomas - 6
Rasheed Wallace - 6
Marcus Camby - 6
Ty Chandler - 2
Amare - 0

You know I gonna spin wit it

As Nalod pointed out, Rasheed isn't hurting for cash. Wasn't featured on that ESPN "Broke" special. Sounds like he still craves the competition. Some folks mistake his propensity for T's with a lack of bball smarts. Not the case. I believe these vets want to prove that they have something left in the tank, something to offer a team. I like the signing.

I think as Sheed mentioned he just loves BB. He had some personal things in his life that he was dealing with towards the end of his career and now it seems like he's in a good place mentally. He seems like he's refreshed mentally which is the biggest part of the game for vets. People think it's physical but if you don't have any cartilage damage or something debilitating, then it's mostly a mental game. Getting motivated to play on this level. I like that he said he had been playing with young players and in Pro-Ams. I hope he works out cuz we need a little "crazy". Guys like Sheed and KT keep the other team from being comfortable!!! You need that on your team sometimes to add that extra dimension. Guys like Rodman etc.
