![]() Another Youtube endorsement?
Starphuch youtube coaches! In your face Kenny Atkinson? "Good Riddance" to all exknicks and their coaches! from his website: Dave has worked with many NBA, WNBA, college, high school teams and players. In 2006 Dave was hired as a shooting consultant for the Toronto Raptors. After joining the Raptors, Toronto increased its team shooting percentage every month, from 44.2% in November 2006 to 47.5% in January 2007. They also increased their 3-point shooting percentage from 30% in November 2006 to 40% in January 2007. In 2007, Dave was hired by the Washington Wizards as an Assistant Coach for Player Development. His knowledge, expertise, enthusiasm, energy, passion and love of the game are unmatched by anyone. As good as a shooter that Dave is, he is even a better teacher. He resides in Washington D.C. with his wife Carole and his daughter McKenna. |

![]() Was just reading an article about him. Have to give the Knicks credit for really vesting in their players the way they have this year. From Hakeem working with the bigs and now Hopla who can really help with the perimeter players. I guess Mike Woodson never got the memo about the Knicks never being interested in winning.

![]() Woody and Glen continue to really go for every angle they can to help this team succeed. I've been very impressed with all of the moves this summer. I hope this guy helps our shooters cuz if we can get more consistency that would do wonders for this team this year.

![]() Learning post up moves from hakeem is one thing, it's all about foot work.
It's a differnet story with 3 pointers...first of all your in a empty gym, no pressure, no defense.. Most shooters come into the league known for there shooting, they just get better by constantly practicing by themselves, shooting 100's of jump shots a day. I think this guy maybe able to help a little, but I don't expect him to turn brewer into allan houston or felton into steve nash. I have read dozen of interviews with great shooters like Reggie, allan, jordan (who developed a lethal jump shot after retuning to the NBA his 1st time) none of them have ever mention hiring a shooting coach. Atkins didn't teach LIN how to shoot, he taught him how to run MDA's system, and kept him in the best possible shape for a guy who was seeing zero minutes.. ES

It if helps free throws, it could mean the difference at the end of close games for a 60% Free Throw Shooter to increase to a 70% shooter, and potentially win more games either in the regular season or playoffs. Atkinson just caught rebounds like the dude Matt in the first video of this page. Hopla actually teaches something and brings something to the table. |

![]() Knicks are an island.
No other teams hire Hakeem or other shooting coaches. They guy worked with Powerhouse Toronto and the Wiz. Knicks bring in all kinds of technology and special programs to get a leg up. soon it will be determined on the court. |

![]() I think some you guys are missing the point. Hopla is being brought in to see if he can help and he has a proven track record of IMPROVING players shooting %. This doesn't mean everyone will be Allan Houston! If a guy IMPROVES from 42 to 45% that's a good thing right? So let's take it easy on bashing a move like this. IT would be one thing if there was no statistical evidence that he's helped players get better at shooting, but there is proof he's been able to help.
As for Kenny Atkinson, he was here to help players improve shooting only. He was assigned to help develop younger players to understand the style of game MDA runs. It's a more Euro style of BB that they may not have been coached to play. This made sense in that situation with MDA being the head coach. Woody is the head coach now and he has a different style and focus so it's great that they've adding players and coaches that fit what he wants his players to learn how to do. It's all a matter of supporting the head coach's philosophy on how he wants to play. So far since the end of last season, there's been a clear direction Woody has been taking the team in and he's adding more and more definition to his staff and what he wants to focus on. IMO that's how you win in this league. |
