...Conversely, the addition of Camby was a shrewd move that could pay huge dividends down the road. Despite his age, Camby remains one of the NBA's elite rebounders and is still a solid shot blocker and paint protector. Consider this: Dwight Howard finished second in the NBA in rebound rate last season, behind only one player: Camby.

In fact, Camby has led the NBA in rebound rate each of the past three seasons. Despite seeing reduced playing time in the latter stages of his career, Camby has been remarkably efficient. Since the start of the 2010-11 season, Camby has averaged 14.1 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per 36 minutes.

Moreover, it was imperative for the Knicks to find a legitimate back-up big man, noot only to bolster the defense, but also to get more rest for Tyson Chandler and Amar'e Stoudemire. During his championship season in Dallas, Chandler averaged less than 28 minutes per game. Last season in New York, Chandler played over 33 minutes a night. That's too much of a burden on the Knicks' best big man. On a similar note, reducing Stoudemire's workload is imperative as well. He played over 36 minutes per game during his first year in New York, and his body has been a mess ever since. Camby is versatile enough to slide in at either the center or power forward spot.

Signing Camby was the one move this off-season I unabashedly love. If he can play ~25 mpg at backup C and PF then that's an absolute improvement from last season.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I guess that explains why they didn't go hard for Blatche.

Love Camby and of all the players that we lost in recent years, losing him was for me, the most painful. If Tyson can only be as good as Camby was in his prime especially as a rebounder.

tyson anchors the teams defense.

He doesn't to do like camby, as long as the end result is the same.

Now we have both, good feeling here.

Camby was also DPOY, led the league in blocked shots, is a far far far far far better rebounder and actually made the all defensive team 4 times.

Hopefully he can teach Tyson a few things about blocked shots and rebounding. His defense (Tyson) is stellar.
