i've been on record of stating that i hope we get blatche...a 6-10 talent who posted 16 & 9 when healthy...despite being immature, i think a veteran presence could help him mature...other candidates include amundsen and kmart ...both who im not too thrilled about.

but now that i think about it, maybe we dont NEED a backup PF. here are my reasons:

1. as we saw last spring, melo did well playing the 4 spot
2. were pretty stacked at the 3....novak, brewer or JR can all play the 3...amare and melo can take turns at the 4 when the 2nd unit is in...
3. were pretty strong at center between tyson and chandler..therefore no need to slide STAT over to center
4. the PF market isnt that good
5. maybe we have a steal in copeland

*say what you want about video games but this "earth shaking" idea was thought of when i was playing 2k12 with next yrs roster...lol

what do others think?

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Amare - 25-30 mins
Melo - 10-15 mins
KT - 3-13 mins

Its a weak point. If we have KT in there with Tyson--we would be one of the weakest offensive frontlines in basketball. If Melo or Amare get hurt(and its consistently happens) then we may suffer on offenense. I'm alittle shocked no one has piked up Blatche yet. Does he have a drug problem? Hes only 25 and has avg 16-8 in the NBA at 6-11 260. A veteran team like the Knicks would be perfect for him. Either there is some serious issue behind the scenes that no one is privvy too or otherwise it seems it would make sense to do a vet min offer for us--we could use the size that can score.

Tyson and chandler, are the same person....
JR is strictly a shooting guard
I'm all in for blatche, give him a shot, if he messes up, trade him!

There is no doubt in my mind you take from Olympic model and put Amare at the 5 were he has had the most success.

Going small with Melo at the 4, Novak on the Wing with JR at the kicks it in to overdrive.

Behind Amare at the 4 as discussed we can slide Melo there, and Camby for short stretches. He has a decent midrange shot.

A guy like Blatch would be a good one year pickup on the cheap but I think he is looking for minutes.

I liked Copeland in the summer leagues. Most of the free agent names associated with the Knicks have been pf/center types.

I like Melo at the 4. Between Amar'e, Melo, Camby, Thomas and Copeland I don't think we need a guy like Blatche. He won't get more than 10 minutes a game and he's definitely not going to be happy with that. I think anyone else we sign is going to be insurance against injuries and won't play otherwise.

youre right about the minutes situation...

seems like knicks are interested in sean williams...ex BC headcase with loads of defensive talent

I'm still holding out hope we trade Amare this season. Wouldn't mind David Lee returning at this point.

Thomas is almost 40. I'm not expecting anything from him.

Amare might not even make to the trade deadline, if someone calls with a solid offer, he's out.

I think the NY Knicks would only trade for Chris Paul at this point and you can't blame them.

This is a new team and they will need 3-4 month to fugure out what they are.
A buch of "used to be" names, a lot of one-sided players, one sided coach, and gigantic expectations..
If they will put it together sky is the limit, but if they will go down, they will go down in flames.
And then anybody (except Melo) can be gone in no time.

Anyone can be traded. The issue is what we would be getting back.

Amare isn't going to stay healthy and we already know that. Guy looked like a stiff the first half of last season and killed us.
