Just ranking the off season, not team.

Can't say the clippers were better off season than Knicks by signing Crawford and Grant Hill?

THe intangables seem to matter. If so, our two winning a gold metal and AMare getting married and honeymooning with Hakeem should count too!

Why doesn't any factor in the Lakers lost Bynum?

I keep reading how they "added Nash and Howard" but its like they did not have to make a trade.

Howard if healthy is an upgrade to a healthy Bynum but if not, or HOward got chronic problems it presents a downgrade.

Let the games begin.

The Knicks should be good--I think it's nuts that there is a truly negative sentiment about the team. While one could argue we overspent(especially on years) for the vets we brought in--I don't think anyone could sit back and say this is not a good defensive team --maybe top 3 to 5 in the NBA from day 1. Given this plausible possibility--and the fact the core of this team went 18-6 down the stretch--it's highly likely we are looking at a 52-54 win team and as I see it top 4 with Miami Boston and Indiana.

them AND Espn. Espn called us team turmoil for the upcoming season which, is strange since this is one of the rare off/upcoming seasons that aren't full of drama.
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I think being at the 16th spot in a 30 team league is a neutral statement. I agree, on paper we SHOULD be a 50+ win team.

Im hoping the heavy veteran laden squad is behind Woodson and holds each other accountable.

Im sure we are looking for 40-50% of the scoring to come from Amare and Melo. They'll have help.

This team should be much smarter this year.

Lol we got 16th in the offseason because we didn't resign Lin!

16. New York Knicks: Oh, hey, Raymond Felton! Marcus Camby! Jason Kidd! Kurt Thomas! J.R. Smith on the cheap! Yeah, none of it matters because they let Lin walk and that looks crazy for that franchise. Maybe the team was in a no-win position with Lin, but that doesn't alter the result.

Wow, this is some really objective journalism. CBS and ESPN should just team up with Fox NEWS and form a superchannel of trustworthy, non biased media conglomerate.

just because you dont understand the impact of letting a 22 year old PG who galvanized the team and who was your BEST prospect go for nothing doesnt mean it doesnt matter. It does.

The Knicks will be a good team. Maybe even a very good team. I would not be a bit suprised if its like Briggs said.. 50-55 wins. Thats where I would put us. Are we better than Miami? LAL? OKC? Chi? No. So what is our chance of winning a title? I would say the Ewing teams had a better chance than this team.

Make no mistake, Knicks will be good and they will be there, but to what avail? We have given up our entire future to
1) get to round 2 of the playoffs
2) get the Knicks back on the radar of "good" NBA teams who will get national games, etc

Dolan's management has run the business very well in the last year. Steady veteran players who can come in an contribute right away for cheap. The garden will sell out. Melo will be part of 50 teams in NY, he will be vindicated and we will get smoked when against the Heat or Boston. I could easily see the Knicks being the 2-3 seed then losing the Bulls in round one when Rose comes back.

Myself... I was holding out for something better. At least a chance of something better.

Maybe Im wrong. Maybe Amare regains his first tier star player level he was at first year here as a Knick. Maybe Melo shoots less and and plays team ball. Who knows, but the Knicks have earned nothing yet and lost a talented and very excited player and easily the player on the roster with the most upside.

24 years old but who's counting. Lin isn't the player that will vault the Knicks past the Celtics, Bulls, and Heat. They lost every single game in the regular season that Lin started against those teams. How do you know we're predetermined for round 2 and that's it? Nothing is in stone, which is why these offseason polls and rankings are rather ridiculous. Who's to say Dwight Howard doesn't suffer any setbacks to that back? Who's to say the Celtics suddenly fall off the ledge due to KG or Pierce missing time. We don't know the outcome, the media doesn't know it either, that's why all these articles are all biased conjecture.

yea... Lin isnt the player. NBA PGs with great courtvision who can get into the paint grow on trees, who needs to risk overpaying for one of those? And Rondo is mid-late lottery pick who's lack of offense will never make him a high caliber NBA PG...

Nothing is set in stone? Your right. And who's to say Melo doesnt quit on Woody when he's asked to stand somewhere he doesnt want to in the offense? Or Amare's back implodes, or Felton's waistline or Chandler's feet or Kidd's escalade or Kurt or Camby's supply of ensure? Cause none of THOSE things could ever happen.

How old are you? Doesnt it ever get old hoping praying sacrificing chickens that every other decent team tanks or their players blow ACLs, while your hoping for the Knick players to do things they have never done?

Hey... Anyday now Marbs will be mature enough to be our leader. Oh wait.. that was the last regime.

Fishy,

You're a good dude but this sort of statement is highly subjective cause many would argue that Shumpert is clearly the young gun on this team with the biggest upside.

Given Lins small sample its easy to discount the stats but he put an NBA team on his back and rode it. The Toronto buzzer beater (game was tied) was increidible for a player with his limited experience. He showed a strength of character and clear vision of his clutch gene.

I think his upside as pg with leadership skills and the abilty to perform in the clutch is just not a common trait.

Shump has very nice upside no doubt.

The Giants were never given respect and they still are getting none. That did not stop them from winning 2 sb's in five years.

Let the games decide.

Yeah, I agree...I think the win total should be right around there...i would just like to see the roster littered with young players...I really liked the idea of Lin and Shump coming back...With young players on the roster, your upside isn't limited, anything can happen in their development but it is what is is...It means that Melo, STAT and Felton has to get on the same page and play like all stars if they are going to compete against the Heat....We will see...

At this point I am not even going to pay attention to the "Lin Whiners" and general negative outlook people have towards the Knicks on the internet. For whatever reason, people choose to wholly ignore all positive things related to the Knicks. The Knicks will have their opportunity to prove everyone wrong. If they do they do. If they don't, well, life goes on...

Had we resigned Lin we'd be reading about how Dolan overpaid for a NBDL undrafted PG whose turnover prone, has a suspect jumper because Dolan just wants to sell tickets.

Which will prob all be true...We are a tougher, better defensive team...We could have used the change of pace off the bench but I don't think Woody had the stones to bring Lin off the bench...I'm really surprised NY media didn't address Lin not passing the ball to Amare or Melo in crucial games...I think it's a huge issue...It could have set the tone to how the off season went...They seem to write about everything else...

A Lin fan wrote that. They can watch Lin turn over the ball a million times in Houston.
