The buzz around Lebron post olympics is not that he is better than Jordan, or better than Magic but perceived as one part each!

Some ESPN shows have been discussing if Lebron is a better player than Jordan? The "fusion" of Lebron being Jordan/Magic was bought up as a better comparison.

I think its a pretty good analogy. Lebron is a better athlete than Jordan in that he is bigger and faster. He has better court vision than Jordan. At 27 they both about the same in shooting. Jordan got much better as he got older and stopped flying as much.

At 27 they both had one ring. So much depends on the roster around you and the coach so direct comparisons are tough. Jordan was far more intense on and especially off the court. Naturally we all know how Jordan's career finished with his 6 rings and legend status. Lebrons career is of course a work in progress.

So if we could put Melo into a "Fusion machine" to complete his "repertoire" whom would you want that could "complete him"?

Lets keep Jordan out of the "Machine" as its obvious every player should be on part Jordan!

And remember, the "Machine" is fictional.

Melo fusion, great new Fanta flavor! I think I'd combine Ron Artest with Glenn Robinson and get an extremely well rounded Melo.

Oh yea and sorry if I've completely whiffed on the concept of the thread.

Add a little Rodman, Spree's motor, Pippen's court vision, BK's game face.

I'd put in in the "Brundle Fly" machine with Larry Bird.

Melo is a better player in just about every way but Larry was a great passer. More important Larry had a bit of "nasty" in him.

Larry did not like to lose and did not smile.

Excuse Nalod, please. He gets Melo mixed up with Gerald Wallace at times.

Larry Legend is an all time great..Melo isn't..Larry did everything better and smarter...Larry knew when to close the game out..Made mates better...Larry is on of my all time fav players...Melo isn't close...Will address the machine later...Larry and Magic just played the game the way it should be played...Bron isn't close to Magic either...Magic made it look pretty and that counts in basketball...Bron is just a physical beast that can't be handled...Micheal's game was artistry, a poet if you will...Bron is different...I don't think Bron is as smart as everyone is saying basketball wise...You had no doubt about Larry, Magic and MJ...Folks like to compare to sell papers, when u really shouldn't compare these guys...

I'll explain, Melo is faster, quicker, Jumps higher, and shoots at a higher level. Melo can rebound.

Larry is acomplished in the moments and is an all time great who came up big in the big moments.

I think you give Melo Birds court vison it would complete him.

Give melo the "Nasty" and you have an the ingrediant for greatness.

For those who are not that bright or lazy to read, the "fusion" is to give Melo what he lacks.

We are not comparing.

Lebron is in a class all by himself. Slightly below the great players (including Kobe), but way ahead of everybody else, until his career is finished.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

Lebron is the greatest basketball machine that was ever created by god.

He is not the greatest winner of championships. Jordan was a sociopath toward winning and that puts him in a unique catagory in rare company with the greats. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NBA_players_with_most_championships

Im not here to debate Jordans legacy as it speaks for itself and his era.

Gerald Wallace? Jrodmc, very funny!

Melo shoots at a higher level? You know that Bird is from the best shooters of all time? Is this pre-fusion or post-fusion?

Melo has court vision he just doesn't enjoy passing the ball that much. Bird average 6.3 assists as a forward which is completely insance.

He definitely does not have the "Nasty" that bird had/has.

Bird - 24.3 / 8.0 / 6.3

Lets do the fusion.

Can the fusion make him white so that the fans can embrace him a bit more? ALA Gallo and David Butler?

Mitch Richmond and Glenn Robinson with a twist of Kobe's blackholism.

Edit: whoops, thought we were just comparing him, not completing him. In that case I would want him to fusion with Charles Barkley's aggressiveness and Bird's brain - pip pip. And Scottie Pippen! That's what Melo needs.

I guess if we fused him he'd be more "Caramel"?

I meant to say Melo's release point is higher because he is black and can jump higher.

Melo does not "enjoy" passing? Thats one I never heard before.

Never said Melo was Larry Bird. Might be a better athlete. With better shot selection and court vision would see better shots and would perhaps run his FG% from .459 to Larry's career .496%! Be easier to run him thru the Fusion machine than hate on him.

Melo shoots at a higher level than Bird did? Melo doesn't even shoot at a high level consistently at all, let alone Bird's level.

I think Nalod meant Melo's release point on his jumper is much higher vertically, meaning it's unblockable basically. Bird didn't jump that high on his jumpshot. He wasn't comparing field goal % or efficiency.

Tha'll shalt no mess with Saint Larry! God forbid!

I think this thread has too much Science Fiction and is over most peoples capacity for imagination.

I should have said:

Ok, the top 50 players in the league are on court with Melo during a ceremony of sorts. A helicopter lands on court and chops them all up. YOu have the chance to sew Melo back together but with all the spart parts around which ones would you use to enhance Melo's basketball game.

And no, Donkey Dales prized organ is not in the parts bin!

Just the soul of Charles Barkley's 1993 MVP Season or something close would be enough:

25.6 Pts/gm
52% FG
77% FT
12.2 Reb/gm
5.1 Ast/gm
1.6 Stl/gm
1.0 Blk/gm

Obviously wouldn't rebound at that rate, but similiar all around game to Sir Charles peak season with the Suns.
