![]() Recall years ago reading up on Laydens struggle with two of his children that had some real bad medical problems and the demands of family and being an NBA executive was tough. It humanizes the guys beyond Howard Eisley's contract or Signing FatSpoon. Of course When Isiah came on board we got to hear all the stories about his mother Mary and how tough it was for Isiah as a kid. It helped to root for Isiah when you hear stories. Donnie had a few stories about his health and how his wife stayed behind in Indy cuz she had all her friends and family there. It humanizes these guys when we know a bit about them. The gag order Dolan has really limits any knowledge about things at One penn plaza. Im not asking anyone to read this article on Billy King http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/12/magazine/the-new-net-worth.html?_r=1&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss I came across in the NY Times (yeah, I read it) and was thinking it would be cool to know more about Grunwald I remember reading how in toronto he did a lot work with the city. Via Wikipedia: Grunwald later became the President and CEO of the Toronto Board of Trade, the largest local business organization in Canada, and is heavily involved in both the business and social communities of Toronto. In addition to his work at the Board of Trade, he sits on the Board of Governors at George Brown College, the Board of Directors at the Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance, and the Board of the Toronto City Summit Alliance. He is further involved with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, as well as Canada Basketball.[citation needed] I googled him after the reading the piece on Billy King and found little more than what was written a few years ago which leaves me to think the propaganda gag order is pretty much intact which is a shame as some of our guys might be pretty interesting. I thought Grunwald had a good back ground and while many were bashing him for the Toronto job I thought this was a guy who learned well from it and other business interests make him more rounded. Grunny is doing a very good job given the dynamics of working for Dolan and MSG. The piece on Billy King I thought was pretty good and was thinking Grunwald would be an interesting interview too. Better than reading him hiding in the closet. If anyone comes across a good piece written about him I'd hope you can share it. We know the insecure "Wizard of Oz" that is Dolan does not speak for himself and seems he does not like anyone to eclipse his stature as well. I recognize N**ts are the flavor of the month in the media and will be for a while but it would serve the knicks well to interface with the community as well and not let Nets get too much spotlight. We tend to root for the guys we are familiar with! |
