Who would have thought our offseason would be this busy. Everyone expected this team to fight to retain Lin, Fields, Novak, and Smith and come back next season pretty much the same. No one could have ever guessed this turn of events. We are much improved and filled a ton of holes.

Priorities heading into the offseason were backup PG (Kidd and Prigioni), backup big men (Camby, Thomas), SG to fill void for Shumpert (Brewer). All in all, we have accomplished all of that and some. For those who can't get over the Lin situation, it was a failure of an offseason. For everyone else, it was a big win. There is still a concern with the lack of shooting, seeing how this is an iso-heavy team where that is needed, but i feel this is a complete team otherwise. As long as Smith and Novak both have good shooting years, that concern should be taken care of. At this point in time the Knicks have zero holes to fill (another big man is possible, but not a real hole) and should be ready to go to war. Who would have thought that we would be going into next season without Lin and Fields (probably the 2 FAs we were most likely to sign from the start without a doubt) and we would have added Felton, Kidd, Camby, Brewer, and Thomas despite little flexibility? I definitely did not. Excited for this upcoming season.

In the end the Bird Rights case didn't really play that huge a role.

Having two pass first PGs in Kidd and Prigioni is going make a big difference with the team's chemistry IMO. Not trying to short change Felton. He is coming in with the right attitude and he sounds hungry, but he isn't one to the same extent that they are. We've done a good job of shoring up our frontcourt. When Chandler gets into early foul trouble next season (probably going to happen more than we like) We now have Camby and KT to pick up the slack. It will be tougher for other teams to go on a run with Tyson on the bench.

Its been a crazy offseason.I agree, I know not everyone is pleased with how it went down. I know I wasn't. But looking forward I honestly believe we have the deepest, most competitive squad in more than a decade and have a capable coach in charge. That's something to be psyched about.

Bird Rights gave us flexibility and options. It only directly affected our ability to resign Novak, but it indirectly affected the way the Knicks went about this offseason.

I too am excited for this season. This team will have a full training camp and preseason to help build chemistry.
Hopefully everyone comes into training camp in shape and ready to after it. The Knicks have two legit starting units.

Still would like to see us add another back-up PF. Not sold on Thomas, at all.

The problem is, we have AGAIN change 2/3 of the roster, and now have to wait till we jel and get used to each other..the same issues we have had for the last 10 years..

we have always had some decent talent on the roster, but instead of adding 1 or 2 key pices, we end up adding 5 and 6 rotational players, then have to go thru that period of finding chemistry..

look at the championship teams, they only add minor pieces, or 1 or 2 major pieces..

So there is still a measure of concern weather or not this group will work well..We have vets that need to stay healthy so we can build chemsitry..I still think we need a serious pf that can stretch the floor, and a sniper sg who can open up the lanes..

We have a lot of defense guys that can't shoot..a PG who is not a real threat from the perimeter..the 3 ball is so big in the NBA (see mike miller in game 5 of the championship) right now it isn't even funy..ray allens poor play and james hardens poor play is what did those teams in...couldn't hit an ocean with a beach ball..

I don't think it will take too long to build the chemistry. Alot of these guys have played together at some point. For example, Felton has played with STAT, Chandler, JR and Camby in the past. Of course it will take some time but I can't see us here a month into the season saying that the chemistry needs work.

We have a veteran team and a full training camp so it really shouldn't take long to get things clicking.

Huge kudos to Grunny for the off season. Yes, I am peeved about Lin. But when I view it dispassionately, I realize it would have been rash to sign him with the poison pill, and he may not pan out the way it seemed during Linsanity. We got a sick front line, a capable, solidly defensive back court and if Stat brings some pride this year, we will be a great team.

Regular season should be exciting. Anything can happen in the playoffs.

I hope Amare is shooting those jumpers a 1000 a day, cause he will have no room in the paint..
Not sure post moves is whats needed on this team..

I hope Novak is practicing his mid range game which is mind boggle that it currently doesnt exsist

The training camp will surely help, but I don't think this roster can afford a major injury at any position..

I was never sure we would try to bring Fields and Novak back. I did believe they would bring Lin back though. Wrong on 2 out of 3. I don't think this is a very complete team on offense, I am looking forward to lots of unimaginative stagnating offense leading to low scoring games. Good regular season record and a second round exit.

good summary of offseason knixkik...i think it has been great...were def better

if we can, id like to add KMart for mini vet

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

It's going to be hard for any team to beat the Knicks next season. Knicks fans should be ready and excited for the upcoming season. Grunwald has done an exceptional job. Let's go Knicks!

+1 We all need to pray and light lots of candles for less injuries this season, especially at the end of the season. Let's all kick in now and buy Tyson some extra vitamin supplements.

But I don't understand how a post could occur here without one mention of Melo's fat.

Fields was considered a lock to be signed? There was enough hate on this board (mine included) to hope he just wandered away on his own, which he did. Not that that would be a contributing factor to signing an FA or not, but hey, maybe JimmieD does have someone monitor this board for him, saw some Fields love, and decided accordingly.

Not signing Lin is just another reason to hate that contrarian drama beyotch Dolan, which I think, he already had enough to last 5 lifetimes. I don't know much about Grunwald, but I find it hard to believe anyone would be able to put up professionally with the level of goofy sheet Jimmie is reportedly being capable of. Personally ushering your GM away from reporters in hallways? That's got to get tiring fairly quickly.

What a Shocking Offseason
