it's a good article along with Lin's SI article. The Knicks didn't value Lin, thus no offer.

Lin on the other hand would have been an above average player at an average salary ($8M per) - All the lux taxt crap could have been resolved by the strech option this has been discussed extensively. BTW what's Melo against > .500 teams?

I believe that 7 players on the are either at the max or will get it soon.

Lebron is MUCH MUCH better than Melo (and if the max was 50 million, he deserves it) and the only reason why he took a pay cut is because three of them came on together.

Lin at 8+ and the poison pill? Not so sure that is a simple decision off 25 games. Martin had a nice post about the complexity of this. This was complicated, and I actually wanted him back but that does not mean it was the right move. And, my hunch (and I could be wrong) that he chose not to compete in the Miami series leaves me with a bit of a bad taste.

All of those numbers are incorrect. The .470 is winning percentage in games played in on current team. The Knicks have won 47% and lost 53% of the games Melo has played in.

I wanted him back to but I really don't understand the outrage of people on this board. As far as him not playing against the Heat I still don't know if he was medically cleared but if he was I can't see any players telling him not to play when a guy like Baron Davis was playing at 75% for the entire season.

Memory problems? It hasn't even been a week since we had a discussion on this. I also mentioned the .470 is partly tongue in cheek since I don't think Melo actually hurts his teams. I just haven't seen any evidence that he helps them significantly.
You seem to be the one ignoring context though - You've found and obsessed on a sample of 102 shots from Lin. We don't even know how many of those games he was playing on a bad knee during. All we do know is that he was learning to play under a new coach with a very different offense.
