Simply horrible. Seems like Colorado can't catch a break with these shootings...

-James Holmes was studying neuroscience at the University of Colorado
-38 people injured including three-month-old baby and six-year-old
-At least 12 dead with youngest victim just 12 years old
-Shooter listened to one song on repeat beofre shooting
-Aspiring sportscaster Jessica Ghawi among those killed
-Questions over why young children and babies were at late-night screening
-Police sources identify gunman as James Holmes, aged 24
-Entered mall cinema in Aurora, Colorado dressed in black and wearing a gas mask and bullet-proof vest 30 minutes into screening
-Set off smoke bomb then fired indiscriminately with as many as four guns
-Man was arrested without incident in a car park nearby and told the police that explosives were stored at his home
-Apartment block in the north of Aurora has been evacuated
-Confusion as witnesses thought shooting was part of the film
-Worst mass shooting in state since Columbine School Massacre in 1999

They said he was a loner and possibly bragged about it beforehand on an internet message board. A woman identified as her mother contacted the police as soon as she heard the news this morning, saying she figured it would be her son. So many young children killed or wounded. Sad day in America indeed.

Good point Chuck Colorado is suppose to be quiet/safe yet all the massacres happen there. I heard a 3 month old child was injured which makes me very angry

Horrible tragedy.the mindless violence needs to stop. Strangely enough the word "terrorism" was never used!
Especially sickening to see so many children being hurt. Just watching the pictures of some of the people that were killed -UGH

These events put things in perspective and makes you appreciate how lucky we are to be alive. But atsuch a terrible cost.

I think you bring "terrorism" into the discussion if the guy represents a group or idea, and his act is committed to further some goal related to these things.

Mind numbing, IMO. Hard for me to process it. You put yourself and your wife, girlfriend, family, or friends in that theater and imagine what it could have been like if you were there, but unless you've actually had a similar experience, or maybe been in the military, it is hard to comprehend what it might have been like for these people.

He was able to use an assault rifle in the attack. I wonder if politicians will finally stand up to the NRA about guns like this.

Politicians have in the past taken a stand against the NRA. But the judiciary body is the one that defends this "right". Our flawed systems allows the supreme court to shamelessly engage in politics under the guise of holding up the constitution. so if you meant the supreme court justices when you said " politicians" then I agree.

Congress and state legislators can still regulate many aspects of gun ownership that would help the situation. Generally, they are afraid to do so.

An NRA tweet that they took down after protests from people online:

If Congress had balls they could use a backlash do limit gun ownership, or make it more difficult to acquire them.

My idea, which the Supreme Ct would have to support, is to mandate that anyone who buys a gun has to participate in "militia" drilling, so that the Second Amendment's "well regulated militia" component is included as a condition for gun ownership.

Sorry to hear so many innocent victims. Too bad James Holmes wasn't aiming at Jimmy Dolan and his family.

What is it with all the death wishes around these parts? Poor taste.

Yep, it crosses the line. Some people need to get some perspective.

There's a lot of sick people in this world. I couldn't imagine going to see a movie with my wife and kid and having a maniac open fire on the theatre. Definately puts things into perspective.
