But seriously - any time you can flip a 23 year old asset/fan favorite into a washed-up 40 year old and a fat guy, you have to do it.

ESPN will write anything. They crapped on Lebron last year now they are gargling on Lebron's balls.

It's a blunder now but if Lin doesn't pan out I can guarantee they will write an article crapping on Houston or how Knicks dodged a bullet.

How dumb is that? Seriously, could you imagine this is how our team management operates!??

The worst part of this Lin debacle is that I was very excited to goto war with this current team with Lin. Now I have lost all excitement for next year.

Money quote:
As a side note: When, exactly, did fans start to believe that their best interests and the best interests of team owners were the same? When did, "Well, I don't think [INSERT NAME OF REALLY RICH GUY] should spend his money in a way that would provide maximum entertainment value for me, the paying fan" become the go-to response? We have no idea how much money Jim Dolan stands to lose and how that affects the Knicks' future. And Knicks fans shouldn't care. They should just want the most entertaining, best product on the court. A team with Jeremy Lin is a better product for consumers than a team without Jeremy Lin. That should be 99 percent of every fan's calculation. Furthermore, the statement "Jeremy Lin isn't worth $14.8 million as a basketball player" is shortsighted. It assumes that marketing dollars don't exist and that every athlete is paid entirely based on his ability to go left or defend the pick-and-roll. No contract in the history of the NBA has been signed within such a vacuum. So why has "Jeremy Lin isn't worth $14.8 million as a basketball player" suddenly become the "smart and rational" response? Those statements assume a world that does not exist. They are the opposite of rational.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

this is the part that gets me most. how do we get absolutely nothing for him.

from the espn article:

At least Knicks fans found comfort in that future first-round pick the Rockets sent their way. Or was it Houston's rights to Royce White? Or the services of Kevin Martin to help fill the void at the two?

Actually, the Knicks didn't even get an autographed Yao Ming jersey in return. Dolan and GM Glen Grunwald and head coach Mike Woodson dispatched the same relative rookie who dropped 38 on Kobe's Lakers, the same guy whose 2012 stats put to shame those of many accomplished 23-year-old point guards of the past, Steve Nash included, without getting a player or pick for their trouble.

Just so they could hand the ball to the unworthy likes of Raymond Felton, a decent ex-Knick who was outplayed last season by -- you got it -- Jeremy Lin.

He lost me when he sited Isola's unnamed source that had business dealings with Dolan. Its pretty easy to trash Dolan. There is a lot more to this story then appealing to fans emotions and trashing the owner. Berger has been the only guy that I have read that has been responsible in his journalism to this point. I wanted Lin back but being blustery, trashing Dolan and siting unnamed sources from guys with questionable credibility is amatuerish and unprofessional. Grantland just became BleacherReport.
