So a few months ago, Jeremy the unknown guard is given a chance and he delivers in a spectacular fashion. Drains a buzzer-beating game winning jumper, puts up (for some stretches) HOF numbers for a player starting his first NBA games, puts up 38 against the Lakers, and the numbers are actually secondary -- is a genuine team player sacrificing and risking injury every night for his team. And the following comes now from so many here in the Knick Fandom:

*25 games is a small sample size . . . (never mind that Anthony Davis has a zero sample size, and no one questions his purported effectiveness). 25 games is a lot. Any NBA player who plays the 25 impressively is a legitimate player. Those that think 25 games is too small a sample size have a too small a member. Genius.

*Stephen A Smith . . . this dude is miraculous -- even a broken clock is right twice/day, but this dude is COMPLETELY on the other side of what is true 100% of the time. Even Rajon Rondo hits a jumper sometimes, and even Amare makes a defensive play sometimes, but this dude . . .

*there were several genius Knick fans that said something to the effect of "playoff basketball has more intensity. In the playoffs, you need ISO ball. Melo is the man come playoffs". Yeah genius.

*Those defending letting Lin go for nothing. Dudes like Anubis, ChuckBuck, nyk4ever . . . even if you hate Lin, if as you say you want the Knicks to do well, why wouldn't you want something for Lin (a player at least another team wants to pay major money). It's understandable that some long-time fans would contemplate leaving (even if it's just an emotional reaction -- it happens even in happily married people, between parent/child where either party will want to sever a relationship, etc.). If you guys were true fans (as you claim), you would not be so nonchalant about fellow fans. By the way, I've been a Knick fan than all three of you combined, and read Starks book (which of you guys honestly have?). Geniuses.

*when it's pointed out that the Knicks signed dumb contracts with guys like Marbury and Curry, it is not meant that Lin is like them. Lin is a genuine asset, and now is the time to be thinking about tightening the belt. When we actually should be spending money. It's like if you've been getting yours from prostitutes for a long time, then you meet a woman is truly loves you and wants both of you to have a committed relationship, and since all you've had is paid sex . . .

That's not even all but that's enough for now. So that adds up to (some) Knicks fans: The Geniusest.

Anubis, ChuckBuck: you better thank your mom for putting out two. Not many come out that are as "special" as you two.

Dude relax.

Order league pass broadband and watch UNLIMITED Lin. It's really that simple. It's not like Houston will have any nationally televised games anyway.

* Anthony Davis was a 6'3 point guard who grew to 6'11. He sacrificed his game at Kentucky and won a national championship. He could be better than KG and worst case Marcus Camby with a wicked offensive game.

*25 games is a small sample size. Can Lin play at that high of a level for an 82 game season? The kid can play but he is not the second coming of Magic Johnson.

* Stephen A. Smith is a douche.

*In the playoffs you need a guy who can hit a bucket in the clutch who is capable of catching fire and carrying a team. Melo can be and will be that player. The guy played the Celts by himself 2 years ago as we were decimated by injuries and again decimated by injuries this year as well as a fight with a fire extinguisher.

*Best case you do want something for Lin but it's a gamble to match. If he's not the star who in the hell would want to pay a guy $14.8 million. Add in that the entire world knows the cap ramifications and you have a giant cluster f**k.

*You spend it when you want to spend it. If you choose not to you don't. The Knicks didn't want to spend the money.

Three things here..1. You can't join during Linsanity then lecture people about being true fans...
2. You can't have Starks book on your reading list and mock fans as Geniuses
3. If you going to mock some one about not being Geniuses, at least spell it correctly..

1) A tiny minority of Knicks fans participate on this board. This board is not the Knicks.
2) Starks is beloved amongst long-time Knick fans. Even on this board, several handles have "Starks" in their name. But you missed all that since you started watching mid-season 2006.
3) I'm sure some got the intentional misspelling of the word, given the nature of the post. I didn't think I'd have to explain that.
