After going to the Bucks game, so far I'm impressed with the performance of Vin Baker. He appeared to be in the same shape he was in the beginning of the season. There was times when he was even getting double teamed! It has been years since a Knick player has been doubled in the low post. I actually believe his prescene was the different in this game. The stat line is not stellar but with someone coming out of rehab what more can you ask for.

Player POS MIN FG FT 3PT REB-O REB-D REB AST PF ST BLK TO PTS
Baker 34 5-14 2-2 0-0 7 3 10 2 4 0 1 0 12

Yes he was very impressive. Nazr couldn't keep up with Skinner who is more of a PF than a center and Vin really stepped up on D and offense to give the Knicks a lift.

Baker looked Skinny. He looked good on D, got a few impressive blocks in the past 2 games. He looked rusty on O, but I think that will come together. I still can't believe guys were doubling him in the post. Impressive play for someone who had that much time off.

Given another month of playing, Baker will come into the fold and contribute. I hope Nazr still starts and Baker is the first C off the bench.

Another score - so far - for Isiah.

I just hope he is sincere in what he has been saying and sticks around. Its not everyday where you can sign a quality inside player for a Million Bucks (NO PUN INTENDED).

IMO Baker will make a significant contribution to the team in this stretch run for playoff position. He helps solidify the low post, and will continue to attract more attention from the opposing D as his offensive game starts flowing. Even if he remains coming off the bench, if he can average about a double-double, he along with Sweets, KT and Nazr keep our 4 & 5 positions a guaranteed dependable resource on both ends of the floor.

To top it all off, he has the support of both IT and JD. Their understanding and experiences with alcoholism will reinforce the possibility of a positive outcome.

A win streak right now would be good timing for all involved, fans included.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Baker is going to start at Center, mark my words. Nazr is what he is...inconsistent and not a good defender for his size, but occasionally can be good, which makes him a backup center.

c-Baker
PF-KT
SFTT
SG-H20
PG-Marbury

bench: Sweetney, penny, nazr, Frank, Mutombo

I love it! plenty of scoring and defense from the bench.

I think Vin Baker once again showed his aggressiveness. Against the Wiz only Baker and Sweets played the entire game. It was an ugly win, you can't blame the officiating because we didn't show any heart against a terrible team.

two things suprise me about baker thus far:quickness and defense. he is so decievely quick and agile that it is almost amazing. he runs the floor like a deer. he seems to have so much energy. plus his defense is much better than i thought. he is much aggressive and can intimidate or block shots. very athletic on both ends. i am very impress. lets hope he can keep it up for the next couple of months or so.

Baker looks to be in great shape, and I think once he gets more used to being out there his trademark 15 footer will go down too. He was a pretty damn good shooter before, and of course offers a post presence. My only concern with the sign was if it would cut Sweetney's mins, but thus far it hasn't. Good stuff so far.

It's funny how you can see a player maybe 5 to 10 times a year, and never really know how good or bad he really is.

TT, Nazr, and VIN have played a lot better then I ever expected. Sweetney who had a lot of people comparing him to Tractor traylor, has impress me more then any other knick this season.

I'm baffled how Chaney's staff didn't put in extra time to work with him. Mark has done a great job, and he also has kareem working with him as well.

This knick team is just getting started. ( miami and cleve, probably saying the same thing about themselves)

You're right. They all played well so far. What is amazing is the strides that sweet is making.
I have to admit that I was never opposed to see him traded, though now, heck, noway we should let him go. Make him work, mkae him play. We have true blue collar worker, that bangs, that rebounds and does the dirty work with great attitude.

Same thing for TT, i mean, should he keep playing like he currently does, we'd have a temendous steal.

It's gonna take time, but now, we've bullets in the gun. Can't wait to see the gun fire for real.

and when Sweetney was picked instead of Lampe in the draft, I was pissed! lol

One of Isiah's first moves was to remove him from the IR. He then went on to say ( as recent as last weekend) He couldn't understand why he was in street cloths...

don't mean to toot my own horn, but i never doubted him for a minute. i honestly thought it would take him a year or two, and w/the chaney/layden administration it would have.(no offence playa)

the more I see him play, the more i think he can be something special for our team.

moreover, I find it great to breed our own rookes. to watch them improve and make their part of the work. feel great to think there is something bigger than just a season, like a long term plan.
