This article brings up a new detail - that AFTER the original offer was done, Lin/his agent & the Rockets continued negotiations to a larger 3rd year amount. If that's the case, then they knowingly screwed the Knicks organization.

Lin will be getting an extra $5m added to the 3rd year of his contract,

A few logical gaps here, so we probably don't have the full details:
* We were led to believe that Lin already signed the 4 year $28m offer sheet a week earlier, so one can't just "change" the agreement. There were also reports that he just verbally agreed to an offer and didn't sign it.
* If Lin simply reported the contract details to Grunwald and never actually signed the Rockets offer, the Knicks could have just written up a contract to match that, and Lin would never have needed to sign the offer sheet
* It's hard to believe that the Knicks didn't put in at least an informal offer to Lin prior to him getting contacted by the Rockets.

Getting an extra 5 mil from organizations that usually pay an extra 50 mil is screwing the Knicks? Lin probably looked at our payrolls from the past 10 years and assumed that Dolan preferred to overpay players.

True and this is not including the 28 million paid to Larry Brown for coaching the Knicks for one season only and the 11.5 millions paid to Anucha Browne in the harassment case.

Does any of this have anything to do with Lin chasing money??? Or is it a sliding scale of "knicks done got wat they deserved".

Look, if I thought I had any chance of being a dud, I would chase the money while the iron was hot. 5 million dollars extra and basically being the bitch if the Spurs and Mavs versus a fourth year and starting in New york.

I'm taking that money and running!!!! But that's because I know I'm a fraud.

----At the Las Vegas summer league yesterday, Knicks coach Mike Woodson dodged the media and refused to discuss the latest developments.

“I can’t talk today,’’ Woodson said. “I can’t talk about it.”---

Let me translate to blunt English, "I can't talk today because I F-ed up. I should've kept my mouth shut after wining and dining Lin in LA. "I can't talk about it because I'll get fired if I act like an idiot again in public. I swear I'm 150% sure I'm not the father!"

Accurate explanation of why Melo couldn't wait till the new CBA to get his money as free agent.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Melo didn't want to stay in Denver and the new cba (not known at that point) might have been too restrictive for him to move. Remember owners were talking lock out and wanting to make sweeping changes. I am not sure how Lin negotiating a huge contract and taking advantage of his situation has anything to do with Melo. Boomer and Carton saying right now they think Lin worked with the Rockets to change the deal so the Knicks couldn't match. I don't know if I agree but again this has nothing to do with Melo and his situation.

Its entirely possible Lin didn't want to stay in NY.

That's what I'm getting out of it. JR sure did, he opted in at $2.8m, while Jeremy gave the Knicks the "How does my ass taste" hometown discount!

There was a great interview with Smith's dad at halftime of yesterday's game. I didn't know that Smith paid his brother's tuition his senior year so that another kid could get a scholarship. There seems to be a lot of good in Smith that people aren't recognizing. I am really glad he is staying.

What's amazing is that report after report that's being leaked is basically saying Lin is doing everything to get out of NY..Yet fans are here trying to hang this on Dolan...If a guy really wants to leave, why pay him 25 mil to play unmotivated ball for your team...

A girl dumps u, telling u she wants to be with someone else, You think it's wise to try and force her to stay with you??..Maybe it's just me...
