If the Camby trade is thru as reported, we still have the non-guaranteed contract of Gadzuric, which can be traded for 2 million dollars in salary. Gives us plenty of flexibility to add another player, possibly a SG, who is either on a small contract or in S/T.

Also, this still keeps the window of a S/T for Kidd open, leaving the outside possibility of adding Kidd and Camby, while still retaining the MLE!!!

great point Knixkik...u beat me to it!...we have an asset in gadzuric's 2mil contract...that can be traded
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

We can take back a percentage more than we can give up in a SnT, right?

So Gadz could still go in a Kidd SnT and keep us the Mle? Though why would the Mavs do that?

Looking at it, i don't know if Knicks have any additional salary to put along with Gadzuric for a Kidd S/T, but it's definitely an outside possibility. I think the more likely scenario would be signing Kidd outright and using Gadzuric to net the best 2 million dollar player on the market.

We can take a percentage more back, but with Gadzuric making 1.4 million, i think the most we can take back is 2 million right now.

His contract isn't guaranteed. Cap room.

Gadzuric has a one year deal worth $1,352,181. The Knicks could take 150% of the first year's salary back in a sign-and-trade for a three year deal under league rules. It means the Knicks could take a player worth a little over two million bucks. So it's basically 3 years, six million if it's a sign and trade.

Does that include the 900K + we have left after paying for TD's contract.
Not sure if that gets included to bump Kidd's salary up.
But why would Dallas help us now, we either have to give them a future pick, or draft rights to Euro Players.
Would be funny if we offer them the players that they gave us with Chandler and say PLEASE!

I don't know if we HAD to include Jordan and Jorts, especially if they are going to cut them, just to give Camby a bit more money, cause we could have used one of their contracts to trade for Kidd.
1 2nd round pick should be sufficient if we are paying for TD salary.

So we could use the other one to trade with Dallas for Kidd, but Houston always wants to screw us with other teams in the league.

I guess we'd have to use Gadzuric's non guaranteed deal to trade for a player who is already signed- we have no assets left to give another team to help us out with a sign and trade, unfortunately.

Well, Gadzuric alone won't get us Kidd. We can offer back those two Euro players (though I hope we wouldn't give them this years 2nd rounder - That guy has some promise - anyway, he is not on our salary, so doesn't help in that sense). So those 3 players are just rights, no $$$ to balance a trade. We would still need to give them something of value, which I sure hope ain't Shump (I doubt it would be). We don't really have anything of value that we don't need. We are pretty stripped down.

So, Fields as an asset to be traded later on is probably a no go as his value is much lower (the way he played for us here) than what he is worth to Toronto. I say resign him and then try to trade him later. Do we really need to be under the amount stated now that we have a deep team?

I'd bring back Landry but doesn't his 3rd year escalate a lot? How many teams would want that? We'll be tapped out for the next 3 years anyway though so I almost wanna say match it. Besides money out of dolans pocket how would the Landry signing hurt us?

Yeah, his third year is huge and the problem as I alluded to, is his style (ball sharing and movement) isn't emphasized in this system. Both Stat and Melo don't shoot quick enough or pass enough imo. But, with Lin and Kidd here you have to wonder what Fields can become???

If he gets his shot back to where it was he can stretch the floor and at least be a rotational player who has an occassional good drive. As a fan there's not really any benefit to letting him walk. We can't really get any other free agents. It's an ugly contract but yeah it's an asset and were gonna be over the cap anyway until 2015 barring something crazy.

Fields' contract would actually fit with our current contracts, including Camby and Kidd's. I wouldn't mind having him back, even for that price, because we won't have cap room with Melo, STAT, TC, Lin anyways. Also, I have a feeling that Fields will find his shot again. He did show some progress in his slashing game last year. With an improved shot, he'd be a very nice rotation player.

But then again, I won't cry if he's not brought back.

What teams are out there that have players available at 2M or less and are trying to save money?
