I think the Rockets are desperate for Lin, that if we don't match would agree to take on Amare for Martin (expiring plus perfect shooting guard for an offense that revolves around Melo) & Scola PF who has same years as Amare but cheaper (and fits better with Melo)

The overall goal is to get Melo's buddy Chris Paul. I mention Melo quite a not bc this team is built around him.

Next season starting 5 could be

Pg: Kidd
Sg: Martin
Sf: Melo
PF: Scola
C : Tyson

Not a bad squad that can hold the fort down until Chris Paul gets there.

Deal is a no brainer for the Knicks.

Knicks then sign Felton and we would be rocking. Felton off the bench would be HUGE.

Team would instantly be more balanced.

I forgot to mention that team would excel in half court sets too.

the knicks can't trade lin to the rockets after lin agrees to sign an offer sheet with them. there's no such thing as a match and trade.

knicks would have to wait 90 days to do that trade. maybe at the trade deadline if the team disappoints but not before.

why is everyone so quick to act like the knicks aren't well run? they're pretty well run right now. grunwald is doing a good job. jeeez

Houston could trade us Scola and Martin during the 3 day waiting period. Then we just dont match.

Lin is a money making machine. His name makes the Knicks a lot of money in ticket and jersey sales. I don't see the Knicks letting Lin go. They will match and we are going to play ball with Lin, Melo, Amare and Tyson.

Lin is not part of the trade. We just agree not to match. Btw I also want the 1st rounder that the Rockets got from the Raptors in the Lowery trade.

Lins not going anywhere, you think dolan is that dumb, you watch GS and houston waive this kid, you fight for his bird rights, you hike your ticket prices to the moon 2 weeks after he becomes a phenom, he essentially brought all kinds of ppl to watch him play, 200 media members at his post game press conferences.

Do you know the back lash the Dolans would get if Lin were to got houston and becomes a star and leads that team to the playoffs..

Lin will make dolan 30 mill in the first 3 weeks of the season, houston is going to kick themselves a new ******* for not giving lin 40 mill, he'll be worth every dime.

I may get rid of my NBA package because I know they'll be on ESPN NBATV TNT every week..

The kid can play, stop worrying about Felton coming here especially coming off a pretty bad season, worse then AMARE and ppl are clamoring for the knicks to sign him..

One thing is certain- this squad (except for Chandler) would have a lot of energy on the offensive end of the court, because they won't be doing much on the defensive side.

Lin is only a cash cow assuming he plays 82 games near Linsanity level.

Why isn't Yi a cash cow then?

Didn't know that Knicks have a team option on last year of Lins contract. So the Knicks should definitely match. The Rockets should know that too, thats why I find it curious they traded their only point guard.

Who knows maybe they would still be willing to trade us Scola & Martin for Amare. He would at least give them a star player.

Pretty sure Dolan remembers paying roughly 6 million a year over 7 years for both Eisley and Anderson a decade ago. Adjusted for inflation its about what Lin will be making a year for 4 years, 3 of it guaranteed. Lin is staying.

If Yao Ming can consistently get voted to start on the All-Star steam with a pegleg, then Lin will most certainly print money.

I agree he has to perform well. But Lin is far more charismatic than Yi. If Lin is at, say 15-17ppg and 7-9apg with 2 steals and limits the turnovers, I think he'll continue to be a big star internationally. Particularly if the Knicks are winning. Knicks are far higher profile than any team Yi was ever on and Lin helps them win, which is pretty big, too.

You guys are obsessed with getting rid of Amar'e. Sttop tweaking already and let the team have a full season together. This trade would suck for us so bad. Enough. Keep Lin, keep Amar'e, watch and enjoy.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Not going to happen- Morey and the rockets are being tight with contracts. Wouldn't re-sign Dragic for 4 years, and wouldn't even offer Lin a guaranteed 4th year when they were trying to create a poison pill contract! Do you really think in the end they'd pay the $20mil per year of Amar'es contract just to sign Lin, when they could have just given a $9mil a year contract to Dragic?

Amar'e is already doing 2 a days and has his personal trainer out travelling with him. He's putting the work in, lets just give him a second chance.

If the knicks were to go into rebulding mode I can see a sign and trade for many picks and Scola.

BUt thats not how we do it in NY!

Don't be surprised if Lin & Amare end up on the Rockets
