With our now desperate situation in the backcourt,
I don't see how we could possibly let JR Smith walk.
We know that he fits with Melo and he seems to like it here.
Signing him is a priority at this point.
In light of apparently losing Fields,
we need to up the ante a bit for him.

If not doable, I like Shannon Brown's game as a fit for us.

are all decent options. Felton is a decent option but i would rather have a SG.

I never said anything about fitting with Amare or Lin or about starting.
He does fit with Melo (and they know each other's game well) and he provides needed scoring off the bench along with Novak. He has also shown the ability to play decent defense.

We have to agree to disagree then. Unless he takes the 2.8 qualifying offer we can use a more efficient shooter at the sg position especially with shump out. I dont mind bringing jr back at 2.8 off the bench. Maybe he wants to be in new york but we need someone at sg who fits with the rest of the starting lineup to starr until shump returns. We need tk surround lin, meli & amare with more efficient shooters period. Even if its a 3pt specialist like foye. Its about balance. Fields is gone so they def need a starting sg

I feel that it's tough to judge JR based on the limited amount of games that he played
with us last year and the fact that both Lin and Amare were injured for some of that time.
And, I have two things to add.
(1) We're not even sure that Lin will be here....in fact, it's beginning to look questionable.
(2) NOBODY on this team is a fit with Amare. NOBODY.
