No. Would they win a championship for the duration of their time in Brooklyn, I personally don't think so. Not enough parts around them. Even Miami need their Chalmers, Millers, Battiers, and Coles to step up for them to win it all, Nets would have a bunch of Vet mins around them, they would have no depth.
Same things, to some degree, were said about the Miami big three. Next job would be for the Nyet's management to get the pieces. You're not thinking that they won't pick up some pieces, and with this big 3 you would have a lot of guys wanting to play with this team.
The Howard, Johnson, Williams is probably better than our 3 of Chandler, Amare, and Anthony, IMO, because they each have different things they can bring to the table. Johnson can be a ball handling/distributing SG when needed, but I don't think he would have any problem deferring to Williams, and they would not be getting in each other's way like Amare and Anthony do. Williams can also play the SG position. Everyone knows where Howard hangs out on the court, and if motivated and injury free, the guy is going to have some major reasons to get things together again. Throw in a player like Wallace, who is a fierce competitor and a glue guy, and you have a pretty good core to work with.
Not saying they are going to win a title next year, but you have a 3-5 year window of opportunity to achieve an NBA crown. I think they would have a better chance, barring injuries, of competing against the Heat than we will.
It is also a good move for Orlando. Lopez and Brooks are both young, and can be foundation blocks for a good team. Humphries is more than adequate as a PF, and the 3 #1s are added gravy, even though you would think that they will be in the mid to high 20s each year.
