You remember how Larry Johnson and Sprewell had bad reps before joining the Knicks and then became model citizens. New York tends to humble stars. I see Melo getting more involved in the community and just becoming a better person. Maybe its the pressure and scrutiny from fans and media. Heck even Marbury was humbled always donated tons and tons of money

Is Melo a bad guy? He strikes me as a pretty good dude. I saw that open scrimmage at the beginning of the year. What I noticed after was Melo spending a lot of time with the other players kids and the Knick rookies.

well a lot of people still refer to him being a me-first primadonna.

As far as on the court I think he is our best player and needs the ball to do what star players do. Will their teams too victory

on the court he may be me-first, but its clear he was taught to play that way. Plus I think he wants to win and be a team guy, he just doesnt know how. Kind of like Amare and defense

He is a public persona and understands the role players have on and off the court. Nobody said this is a bad guy.

You have to sell yourself and fans who like players will pay to see and root for them.

I was not for the trade, but that don't mean I won't root for him to succeed.

Its the definition of success. Him dropping 40 and knicks lose is not success to me, but if you gonna lose and the star player has a good nite many fans are entertained and go away happy. Ok, I get it and I don't blame folks for it. To defend that success as being a key to a championship is what is debatable.

And there is no quantifiable proof anyone is right. Starphuch YouTube Melo is a great concept.

Him getting a wax figure and at the same time saying its now time for a championship is wonderful copy and fills fans with StarPhuchDust in their eyes and just love the warm fuzzy hope it brings!

If you feel this way then Melo is doing his job.

Just don't get upset when "Reasons" like roster imbalance, defense issues, injuries, and a lack of depth get in the way. Get mad for a few weeks, then start over again with more love.

Next year it will be "Melo was tired from the olympics", or "got injured because he played in the olympics"..........

Same for Tyson.

Amare "Back" was messed up from phuching his brains out on his honeymoon.

Assign blame for our medical staff for not being PHX's, or the earths rotation was not in synch with the new changes in MSG.

Enjoy being a knick fan and the Large personality of Melo. Just don't confuse liking your best player with championship reality.

I see what you are saying and I agree to a certain extent but I think it is expecting to much to change what he is. He is not a decision maker. Its on Lin to run the team. Get melo & amare the ball in their sweet spots. Pick n roll with Amare etc. Kobe is not giving the ball up to much and he bas gasol and bynum. Its a team effort. Guys have to set gocod screens & move without the ball and most importantly hit open shoots which we couldnt do last year.

Its like Ewing getting blamed for not being a good passer and discredited for leading the knicks deep in the playoffs year in year out

totally agree... its why I 100% believe the key to this season is Lin and him being healthy enough to play a whole season. I think with good PG play Knicks are elite. Without it we are a 45 win team.

Agree 1000% not having a pg last year derailed the season from the start. We were an elite team during Lin's 26 games

Could not agree more. That is why it is so important to have a good backup pg for insurance.

I would still trade him, for a great deal. I would rather build a team around an unselfish star.

They know how and when to turn it up.

When you have a known selfish star, it's hard for them to change their game and still be affective.

Unselfish stars know how to impact the game without the ball.....Melo hasn't figured that out. Stat figured it out, but he's just not healthy and lack defensive IQ.

The knicks will go as far as Melo goes.....

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

No he is probably a nice guy. And is definitely smarter than the average ball player. Comparing him to Marbury is just plain wrong. I hate his lack of effort and his putting himself ahead of the team. But off the court he is good dude. He maybe a diva but he is not a Team cancer like Marbury was.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!
