How many people actually want to see him as a knick?

I do, but only if he has his non-basketball life in order. And he has to be on a short leash.

If we get him on the cheap, I dont mind. Think of it this way - if he comes cheap it would be like getting him as a bonus throw in with the original Ewing trade that didn't net us a big man - he is just coming a few years later.

He can still play at a decent level, if he can stay clean and will sign for a decent salary (he isnt worth as much as his old contract because his off court probs and every team knows it) then he would be a nice addition to the front line.

The worst that happens is we give him a 2 year deal, put in a no alcohol clause and if he violates it he is done. Thats a risk I would take as a GM.

He really looked good earlier this year. He was moving well, and he lost weight. He could definitely help. But I don't want him to block Sweetney. Sweetney's ready to step up in a big way...

Why would anyone want to see this guy sign to the knicks and bring his problems to the team. This guy isnt gonna be the piece that you need to win. Hes done is like penny but worst he will never show the spark he had before. DONT SIGN HIM!

i would like to see Baker as a Knick but someone would lose time and i hope its not Sweets. Most likely they would cut Mutombo, which would lead to his retirement. Then have Thomas backup Naz,Baker and Sweets play the PF position.

We have a roster spot open so I don't think anyone will be cut....especially Deke. He is too valueable in the playoffs. He would be traded (next year) if they really wanted to get rid of him.

Question...
If we sign him for dirt cheap for 2 years I know the Bobcats can pick him up if he is not protected. But if we only sign him through the end of the season.. then He's safe and all we have to do is resign. Am I right in my assumptions?
If this is the case it would be stupid to sign him longer than this year as we already have too many players we need to protect already.
thoughts?

we can only give him the vet minimum (1.5 mil i think now) pro-rated since the season is almost over. this summer we can dip up in our mid level, but that is earmarked for sheed.

If baker is gonna play like he did for Boston when he was sober, you have to be insane to worry about sweets minutes. We are trying to go somewhere in playoffs, If Nazr can't out play Baker than his minutes should be cut not sweets.

weren't you arguing for FWill mintues before and after Marb came over? It seems a little strange that you would want Baker over a developing Sweets.
