i DVRed this game hoping to see CP3 play but he was injured. instead foye played extended minutes.

a couple of impressions

1. Foye is a SG...a gunner...he has no PG skills (like i thought he had)
2. JR plays hard D...gets lose balls and can SHOOT (but of course hes streaky)
3. fields can PLAY...he had some great spin moves and and1s...he just cant SHOOT...not even FTs
4. im the biggest melo fan here...but OMG the ISOs...thats ALL they did..elbow Iso like 80% of the time..melo passes VERY well out of the dbl team though...found novak for some great 3s
5. when they werent running ISOs, i felt woody ran some nice plays
6. we have a back up PG...his name is shump...he did a great job of passing to melo in the high post (lol...thats really all he had to do)
7. stat looks awful...melo gets a lot of the blame but i forgot how BAD stat was...he has no shot or left hand...plus he cant rebound or jump!!...bledsoe (the 5-10 PG) stuffed his shot into the 3rd row...the problem isnt if stat and melo can play together...the question is can STAT play??
8. we play great D...the site of tyson and shump trapping on a picknroll is scary
9. shump is AMAZING...freakish defense and athletic ability

OVERALL
-if i had to choose between JR or foye, id keep JR...good for continuity and i just think hes a better player.
-keep fields, he has potential
-lets give woody a chance on the offensive end...i really think he was at a disadvantage cuz he didnt have a PG or his own plays to run
-this team has NO front court depth...at one point they were playing shump/fields/jr/novak and gadzuric...

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

The problem with Fields is not only his shot, but his shot creation. He has no dripple.. He has a horrible jab step. No cross over. Horrible passing skills. So he become a liability on offense when we are playing half-court. I'm not saying who we should keep or not, but Fields to me is very dispensable. It's that much harder to double team Melo if you have other guys (specifically ur PG, and SG) who can breakdown the Defense down with penetration and smart passing, as well as the obvious.. hit shots!!

Basically what a shooting guard is supposed to be. Good points on Landry...

A sg guard who can get to the rim on the dribble with a good midrange game would be a huge bonus. Right now I would settle for a spot up 3pt specialist at sg over fields. Lin can do the pentrating and dishing out

if it was up to me, id rather keep JR and fields for the sake of continuity...im not sure to even classify fields as a SG cuz he cant shoot...but hes a solid player who brings other assets...as far as im concerned, were just keeping the SG seat warm until shump comes back anyways...we should go all out to get a SG...im more worried about our frontcourt depth...need a back up PF and C

I keep jr best thing out there. Plus with lin returning fields might step up since they have some chemistry. Fields listens to the blogs and maybe reads the boards. Fields knows its a do or die if he returns. I just hope he improves what everyone knows. Bring better dribble and a crossover. Also learn to shoot. Fields can make himself a x factor if he brings more to the table and we can lock him for cheap.

Landry did actually improve his driving ability this year. He had a lot more successful drives than he did the year before. He's just not a SG so of course he looks less skilled than a guy that is more suited to it, but he's not as terrible as some make him out to be. He's just not special at it. If Landry can fix his shot, that really is the biggest issue. He does well enough off the dribble for his size. Just don't look at him as a one on one player. That's not his game. It doesn't mean Landry can't help this team off the bench as the all around role player he should be.

Landry handles the ball like a center/p-forward. His quickness and creativity let's him get by some bad to average defenders but any good defender takes him out of the game. Plus you're making all these judgments based on looking back at ONE game? We're you hammered watching the other 70?

Landry lacks confidence and a killer instinct......he doesn't have the mindset to take his man. He's basically a liability

I want J.R. back, but I'd be happy to take Foye at the right price if Smith doesn't work out. Foye can hit the three, play D and play spot minutes at point guard. The thing I really like about Foye is the mental toughness he brings. I think it's a dynamic that could benefit the team.

As for Fields, the guy did shoot 39 percent from three. Maybe that was a fluke and last year is more indicative of his abilities. Maybe it was just the result of a sophomore slump combined with a shortened season. I'm not ready to give up on Fields yet unless his contract demands are ridiculous.

Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right. - The Tick

The guard I'd like to add to our roster is Jerryd Bayless. He's a great athlete, can finish and shot better than 40% from behind the arc.

Can we get a pass first pg who can shoot.

Instead of a sg who can pass.

Bayles, Foye....they are SG's with PG height.

Don't be fooled....

No question about it. If Foye comes it will be as a 6'4 SG which is not a big deal. Wade & Starks are 6'3. And besides Shump will be back

Im not either. I think he can be a nice role player but only if he gets back to shooting the way he did his rook yr

I'd love to get this guy....he would be instant offense off the bench for cheap. Dude could still do more if he ever got a shot.
