Good for him. With the exception of the D'Antoni hiring, the Jordan Hill pick, and the botched Lebron recruiting summer of 2010, nothing but good things to say about Donnie Walsh. He conducted himself with grace under fire, slowly cleaning up Isiah's mess, dealing with the unmitigated disaster of an owner James Dolan, and weathering the NY media storm. The fact he was able to get the Knicks under the cap was a miracle in itself after a decade mired in salary cap hell. Kudos Donnie kudos!

Good for him, indeed. He deserves the homecoming. Nothing but a class act.

How was the LeBron recruiting "botched" exactly? LeBron didn't want NY, he wanted the easy way to a championship.

I can see why you would have an issue with 'botched'. He certainly put the team in position to be able to sign LBJ but it didn't work out. I am not sure how to describe that. A lot of assets and losing occured to get Amare and eventually Melo. A lot of talent passed through NY. As I watch the draft on Thursday, I am certain I will again regret how much he gave up to get rid of the Jeffries contract including the 16th pick this year.

Anyone know why Bird is leaving?

+1.

"Full autonomy". I'm pretty much going to reminded of Donnie anytime someone mentions that phrase.

Aldridge said it might be health relate. He also said he was. Very comfortable with Walsh taking over.

Last I saw Bird was good to return but I guess something happened. I think Bird has been on the fence for a few years.

Donnie got paid by the knicks as a "consultant" the last year I thought. Or its known as "We pay you to stfu" money.

Has anyone ever been both MVP and executive of the year?

Jerry West? Nope. Finals MVP.

JOrdan? Nope, he sucks as exec.

Wes unseld? Not exec.

Willis Reed? Not exec.

elgin Baylor? Not MVP, but did get exec!

Larry Bird! Yep!

Has a KNick ever gotten the Exec of the Year?

Three, but not as a knick! John Gabriel (Orlando), Warkentein (denver) and Eddie Donovan (Buffalo Braves). If you don't know who Eddie Donovan is, then shame on you! Take some time to read up on his work with KNicks.

Father and son ever win? The Colangelos did.

Im rooting for Grunwald!
