Is this important? I am always a huge Amare supporter, but it just seems like it's one thing after another with him. The cut hand, the going to the Miami game, now this. All these are bone headed moves, and they are indicative of someone who seems to continually make poor decisions as of late.

Does he, as someone who is very much into his celebrity status, become a distraction to the team going into next season?

Hell yes its important because God forbid it was Melo or JR all we would here about is how either one of those two destroyed this franchise. It is important because dude has been on a consistent downward spiral. When will it end?

If it was Melo, it would be stage 3 lymphoma Get the F off my team status. Since it's Amare, it's just something he did on twitter.

He is attending the University of Miami for summer classes - is it really a big deal that he went to a Heat playoff game? Its not like he was supporting Miami. I am glad he was watching basketball and is interested in the game even in the off season for him.

Now the fact that he looked like a lesbian hipster while attending the game is a totally different story.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Anyway, I don't see the big deal here. He apologized and it's an isolated incident. That's enough for me. Let it go; if it happens again and he hasn't learned his lesson, then it's something to talk about.

I think celebrities and athletes should get off twitter - its just one thing after another on there. A total PR nightmare and a liability that doesn't need to exist. Fan's don't need this much access.

I am guessing that must be because you like Amare.

It reminds me of the democrats who had no problem with the president boning Lewinsky saying "whats the big deal" while the repubs went nuts!

Its all about alliances.

True champions don't attend the games of the teams that beat them. Did Michael Jordan go to Detroit games after they beat them? Did Tim Duncan go and watch LA Lakers games after they eliminated the Spurs? You just don't do it. It shows weakness.

We can agree to disagree, but it was still a story that caused a distraction and turned people off. Whether it was right or wrong, he is bringing too much attention to himself, and not the good kind.

He is holding a Lets Go Heat popcorn box. Could you imagine Bill Russell doing the same?

LOL at lesbian hipster. It's all about the details sometimes. A Knicks player eating out of a popcorn bucket that says "Let's Go Heat" doesn't seem right.

Yes, it is a big deal.

1. For someone making the dollars he is, in the place where athletes are scrutinized for everything, he should have the maturity and intelligence to be professional and expect some criticism, lots of it actually.

2. The NBA suffers, like most sports, with issues revolving sexuality. Think: Grant Hill and Jared Dudley's "not in my house, not anywhere" campaign. Joakim Noah being given a RIDICULOUS fine for calling a fan the same thing. This will make him look bad.

3. It shows a lack of self-esteem really. "I don't have to do anything, fag." That sounds like what the class dumbass would say to the teacher in 6th grade to get suspended on purpose and brag about it to his friends. Just a low character move. Think about ALL the ways Amare could have responded, if he chose to respond at all (which he shouldn't have, and should never do again). This one actually reflects more on where he is at with himself than anything else. And it looks low. Very low.

I think celebrities and athletes should hire PR, publicist, media savvy person to handle this for them instead of risking looking like an dickhead.

They are on there because even though they have the money and fame they still need to be tickled by the fans that adore them....for all the hate they get...they get alot of people telling them how great they are...

For one I'm on twitter and i have gotten in heated arguments with strangers about Lebron and Dwight Howard. I'm a hater cuz i don't like either and Im just mad cuz I can't be them apparently.....also it crosses the line to say a player sucks....

It's real corny anyway you look at it.

Amare needs to average over 10 rebounds every single game next year and for the duration of his career. I said that in my blog and would say it to his face. I guess I'm a fag too

I love twitter around the trade deadline and the draft. I personally don't tweet but it can be pretty cutting edge for an information source (i.e. last year nba draft picks were being tweeted before they were announced by Stern and Silver). It does seem to be a problem for atheletes.
