We bring Nash in for the MLE and trade Lin for a package (for example) included something like JJ Hickson and pick 11(Dion Waters) That would give us the back up PF we need and a starting SG--while still improving at PG.

would make sense basketball wise, but I think Lin generates a lot of revenue for Dolan to even consider.
It's the same reason why he was willing to over pay and outbid himself for Melo to begin with, except Lin can generate much more but cost much less salaries than Melo.
Essentially, it isn't what we as fans and is best for the team.

It is what is in the best interest of the corporation as a business $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I think there is a much better shot that Dolan is willing to trade Melo than Lin from that point of view.
Especially if Lin played the same games Melo did to get Dantoni out....

Nash is almost 39. Despite a prescriptive diet and a tremendous commitment to fitness, age will still catch up to Nash. He is at a point where that could happen anytime. I don't think you trade Lin for him at this point

Its kind of confusing but he is saying trade Lin to Portland for Hickson and their 1st rounder(11th). Then get Nash in FA. In that scenario instead of Waiters I would go with Lillard then Odom in the second.

I agree, I think Damian Lillard is the #1 highest ceiling/potential of the PGs in the draft, with good shot, penetration, and athleticism.
It gives us a best better all round balanced team, with pieces to build with for out future.
Jeremy Lamb should be considered if he is

BUT

If Dolan is willing to let Lin go in a trade to better the Knicks and lose out the player that caused "LINSANITY" I would be shocked.
Global attention, from people that NEVER watched sports, or the Knicks all knew off the existence of Jeremy Lin.
He could be the biggest marketing machine, considering all the $$ there is to be made in China.

maybe they can just draft sign him to summer league him to replace Lin LOL

or

replace Jeremy Lin with Jeremy Lamb if he is still on the boards.

He looks something between Reggie Miller/ Kevin Martin / Durant to me...

I think Andre Drummond will be a solid player too, shouldn't fall out of Portland's 6th pick with Aldridge or to the King's to team up with Cousins, with both their needs at Center.

Which is why it might be the best time to trade him. I wouldn't but if I did it would be in a big package deal with Houston hopefully getting both their 1s and maybe a player. That is probably to much to ask back but I would ask.

RonRon said it best: "Global attention, from people that NEVER watched sports, or the Knicks all knew off the existence of Jeremy Lin. He could be the biggest marketing machine, considering all the $$ there is to be made in China."

not only will Lin NOT be traded...but this is also one of the reasons why nash wont come here...no legit PG in their right mind will come over to be backup to dolans new pet...

Lin isnt going anywhere!...neither is stat, tyson or melo

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I think thats an understatement. Nothing is going to come of overthinking scenarios. Lin is a knick for at least the next 5yrs whether you like it pr not. I mean who wants to blow this team up yet again. I sure as hell dont. I want continuity and with a solid gm, coach.melo and pg I think we can finally say after 11yrs we have some of that

Wait, I thought we can't trade Lin just like we can't trade Fields as they are both restricted free agents? And something about not resigning RFA's and trading them in the same year or the like?

I wouldn't take a chance trading someone of Lin's Talent for a great 39 year old PG. As great a shape as Nash is in, an injury can happen quick at that age...

The Knicks were about to dump Lin.

I wouldn't put a sign and trade past the Knicks. It all depends on who we get back in return.

We have made every other dumb and flat out stupid trade we could have made. So yes it's possible we would trade Lin for Hickson. Seeeesh.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

i'm not above trading Lin. would have to be a really good package though. and we'd need to make sure to get a PG out of it.

i'm bracing for his new agents to ask for 4yr $36M (which i believe is the max he can ask for - two years at $5M and then years 3 and 4 around $10M). i like Lin, A LOT, but not sure he is worth what his agents will ask.

I wonder what our coaches think of him?

Maybe we trade him in two years when is an allstar caliber point and get max value for him.

If you have doubts about him then your grounded in reality but keep trading for "a sure thing' will yield you a sure no trip to the finals.

Being creative and taking chances gets you over the top.

Lin is 23. Nash is 39. Looks like simple arithmetic to me.

No thanks, even though it could be a solid play. Just too much risk. Lin is the real deal imo. We stay with him.
