As I remember Michael Jordan made lots of 20 feet jump shots and at times drove to the basket. Every playoff game with the Bulls always went to the final game. And Smith did get fould on that last play that would have sent us to the championship game. LeBron drove to the basket at will against OKC What would Ewings Knicks done?

I don't think Anyone could stop Ewing. I also think there would be some bouncing off the floor instead of flopping. Wade might not make it through that series. I would love to see Mase guasrd LeBron. I think I would want the Mase team as opposed to the LJ team.

Different style of play. No hand checking then. Jordan would avg 42 pts with 8 or 9 assists. The key to guarding the Heat is having bigs that can guard the perimeter and a 3 that can push Lebron off the block.

its a different league, with different rules, and since the refs favor and protect ALL STARS much more than back then.
With the Tyson Chandler flagrant and Fisher flagrant on Lebron, it is a joke.
Today's game doesn't tolerate hard fouls and punishes it.....

During those days, opponents were enemies, at least when they were on the court vs each other, many despised each other even off the court making the rivalry stronger.
The competitiveness, defense, pride, and will to win, made the game personal and much more intense.
While today, many players in the league are friends with one another.
The NBA promotes highlights, dunks, and attracting a fan base, while protecting the players that generate $ and fans for them.
So you just cannot compare....

I see this claimed a lot, but I don't think it's true. There are plenty of stories of great players who were good friends with other great players. Wilt and Russell; Magic and Isiah; Jordan and Ewing; Jordan and Barkley; Ewing and Mourning. I think the reason it appears that players are closer now is because anytime someone so much as looks at another player cross-eyed they're immediately ejected and the NBA suspends them for 5 games.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Mason and LJ never played together.

LJ as small forward could not guard Lebron.

Nobody can now. And not then.

Lebron is the size of Oak. That is scarey.

Knicks playes slow ball and Ewing could not run.

Personally I think the current knick team would beat the snot out of the team from 20 years ago.

Heat swept us now and would win by 50.

You're right about LJ and Mase. I chose the Mase team. LBJ has a tremendous physical advantage against other small forwards and most power forwards. I think Mase would match up as well as anyone against him. If you mixed it up with Bonner and even Charles Smith, I think LBJ has a tough time against that roster. Ewing was a much fiercer presence in the paint than Tyson is in my opinion despite the DPY award. I don't know if Wade could hold to the physical demands of a series against those Knicks with his style of play and injury issues.

I think the best defense against the heat with the old Knicks would be there offense with Ewing. That is there weak point. They have no one at the 5 to control Ewing at all. Going forward the best way to play the heat is to change from zone to man.

I think the heat defense would have done very well against Ewing by packing the middle and dared the knicks to shoot from the outside where championships are not won.

The speed of Joel Anthony and Haslem would have done ok. Ewing still gets 30 btw.

LBJ have a tough time against the roster? Did Jordan? Lebron is bigger and faster. Jordan shot better from the outside.

Im going to stop here because the real question is:

Does the Heat beat Jordan and the Bulls? There were 6 of them and they had different looks.

with today's rules, not well. oak, mase and starks would foul out most games. ewing will do well since it will benefit the most.

Zone defense would hurt Ewing. Dude was not a good passer nor motivated to do so. Maybe he learns in the new era but the double team on him swatting the ball from him would be a problem.

A guy like Hubert Davis should start and Starks off the bench. I can't recall if they were rostered the same year.

I'm talking about the laws back then not todays girly laws and I know that LJ and Mason didn't play together. I know that todays game promote all about money and all for the smaller markets. This NBA should be more like the baseball league. If you got the money to spend then spend it like the Yankees. Yes I know that the Knicks made a lot of mistakes like giving away talent to make room for LeBron. I will never again beleive a player again wanting to come to the Knicks.
