Unforunately we were never lucky enough to land a top 5 pick and land lebron, howard or durant. The 7 and 8 picks were all traded or complete busts. See frye over bynum

Tell this to Dolan.

Too bad he wont listen to you.

Harden and Ibaka will both be looking at a huge raise this summer.
They are both restricted free agents, they can stay for a better opportunity to have a dynasty.
Will they sacrifice on their contracts like Parker/Manu/Duncan did on the Spurs?

or

go to a bigger market team/forcing OKC to match or not.
It's not about the $ on the contract for Harden, he has the ability to be a #1 or 2 threat to go for endorsements.
Harden is worth a starting salary of $12m or even a max contract.
Will he follow in the footsteps of Ginobili or Joe Johnson?

Ibaka should be looking at 10-12m starting salary range as the league leader in shot blockers.

I don't know if OKC is willing to pay max contracts or close to it for

Durant
Westbrook

Harden
Ibaka

and a good portion to Perkins at 7-8m+....
They are very lucky to sign Nick Collison for 1-2m per year at a multiyear contract

Good question. It should be an interesting summer.

Actually we were lucky enough to land a top 5 pick but like usual, we traded it away.

Short of doing this, there isn't much hope:

No, tell it to the fans who reward Dolan by buying MeloCurryBurry jerseys.

One thing that gets overlooked is that Miami sent four first round and six total picks to Toronto and Cleveland to get Bosh and Lebron. If those guys had just out-right signed with Miami, they'd have a much better supporting cast. Those picks could have been used to draft players or to trade for good role players. Lebron and Bosh messed up doing that. Actually, Wade and Lebron messed up by involving Bosh at all. He's a nice player but not worth the max contract and two first round picks.

He meant that they were home grown talents. That you can build through the draft.

organic growth is always better than acquiring pieces externally. Always. That said, you forgot to mention the likes of Nick Collison (12th, 2003) and Mouhamed Sene (10th, 2006). You also forgot to mention that Durant was gifted from Portland. Also, it is very rare for a team to be this young and this good.

This is certainly an argument for organic growth. But this required a lot of patience and a lot of luck

also helps that they were sold in seattle to an owner who gave two cares about those fans...aka traded/let go popular players -- lewis and allen -- and effectively tanked so they could get lucky enough to land durant and the next year westbrook.

that being said, presti has done an excellent job with other moves and with the draft.

Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

That oden/durant draft very similar to bowie/jordan. Colossal errors by Portland twice lol

How many teams have done this successfully? SAS and OKL, so maybe 1 or 2 teams per decade. We know that this is a monkey-see-monkey-do type of league when it comes to building franchises, but seeing just the 1 or 2 successful teams and ignoring all the other teams who have been trying to build thru the draft for years is extremely shortsighted.

Can't argue with that. Ewing was the last homegrown knick in 1985. 27yrs ago

did the Laker's draft Shaq? Did Boston draft KG or Ray Allen? Did Detroit draft Rip Hamilton, Chauncy Billups or Ben Wallace?

Just because MSG sucks doesnt mean drafting is the only way to win
