Then Knicks own their own picks from then on.
In 2016 Denver has the right to swap places with us, so we'll end up with the worse pick but we will have one.
do we have the rights to trade the 2016 draft pick, since we do have one?
No, because we traded 2015 pick. The reason why we only have a pick every other year is because one cannot trade consecutive picks.
We didn't trade our 2015 pick; 2012 goes to Houston for taking Jeffries contract, 2014 goes to Denver as part of the Melo trade, and Denver has the right to swap picks in 2016 as part of the Melo trade. We still have our own picks in 2013 and 2015 and will have either ours or Denver's in 2016. After 2016, there are no more conditions on our draft picks.
As for RonRon's question, I honestly don't know. If I had to guess, I would say yes, it can be traded. But, I could see where the NBA has a rule that it couldn't be traded until after Denver decides to swap picks or not. Basically, I have no idea.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion
How beautiful if nothing more
Than to wait at Zion's door
I've never been in love like this before
Now let me pray to keep you from
The perils that will surely come
