Report: D-Will won't stay without D12
By Mike Mazzeo

Deron Williams won’t re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets unless they get Dwight Howard, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.

League sources told Yahoo! that even if the Nets win the NBA draft lottery tonight, get the No. 1 pick and take Kentucky’s Anthony Davis, it won’t be enough to keep Williams, who intends to opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

The Nets would be willing to trade the No. 1 pick for Howard in order to keep Williams, the report said.

The Nets have a 7.5 percent chance of winning the lottery and getting the top overall selection.

They traded their 2012 first round pick to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for small forward Gerald Wallace, but put a top-3 protection on it. They have a 25 percent chance of retaining their pick.

According to the report, Howard regrets forgoing his early termination option and staying with the Orlando Magic through next season, and wants to be traded before the start of the 2012-13 campaign.

The Nets went all-in in an attempt to trade for Howard and pair him with Williams before Howard elected to stay in Orlando.

Williams has reiterated that he’d like to stay with the Nets, assuming they surround him with more talent.

The Nets went 22-44 last season. They’re moving into the $1 billion Barclays Center in 2012-13, and would love Williams to be their franchise player heading into their new arena.

The Nets can offer Williams more money than any other team, but Williams has said winning is his biggest priority.

Brooklyn’s roster is currently in flux. The Nets only have four players under contract for next season: Johan Petro, MarShon Brooks, Jordan Williams and Anthony Morrow.

Cornerstone Brook Lopez is a restricted free agent, but has said he’d like to be back and the Nets are likely to re-sign him.

Power forward Kris Humphries will be an unrestricted free agent and Wallace has until June 13 to decide on a $9.5 million player option. But Wallace has said he does not want to play on a one-year contract, and Nets GM Billy King believes Wallace deserves a multiyear deal.

King traded for Wallace -- in what many felt was a risky move given the potential ramifications -- because he felt he could help convince Williams to stay.

See Ya D-Will AKA Marbury 2.0! Brooklyn Nets, still home to the empty seats and fairweather fans. Great job Prokhorov!

So where does he go?
Dallas?
LA?
Miami? (Swap for Bosh)
If winning is his deal, what club needs a PG and is poised to possibly win a ring?

Anybody with cap room that's a potential contender. Looks like Dallas is the favorite for more reasons than one (Mark Cuban, Nowitzki, D-Will's hometown).

League sources told Yahoo!

I would not write them off so fast.

Lets see the product they put on the floor next season.

I can't believe what a Phuch up Dwight is. He could have been a free agent and had a front line of

Dwight
BroPez (who next to dwight becomes a nightmare to defend)
Wallace
Dwill
Marshon/Marrow/?????

BroPez has range to shoot.

Now Dwight has to get traded. He wanted the MeloMoney.

Last year I wrote a scenario where Kobe plays in brooklyn.

Its still out there but it could happen. Why?

Lakes might not be able to rebuild around him in the next two years. With a trade they can make some moves. Kobes salary is huge.

IF Kobe Can't win anymore rings might it become stale in Lakerland or he can make that big fat salary where the expectations are fresh and the pressure is lower.

To have low pressure and be in NY is a treat.

Fresh start and new surroundings. His exwife he is trying to reconcile with got an NYC apartment recently. It don't mean anything but yah never know.

Nets get to starphuch big time with that one.

Not even the same category as the Melo situation. Dwight Howard held the Magic hostage waffling his trade demands, threw SVG down a flight of steps, ate Otis Smith's children with some hot sauce then spit them out, and pilfered another $20 mill from owner Rich DeVos due to his own indecision. Truly a bastard individual...speaking of which, cue the unmarried babymama drama pics:

I think he has 2 other kids out of wedlock from other women, might be on pace to surpass Kemp and LJ although Cromartie is probably out of reach.

Deron Williams wants that guaranteed money. He isnt stupid.

I think he resigns or some team trades for him.

D Williams for Westbrook would be sweet for both teams dont know if that would happen though.

Watching OKC play, their lack of a TRUE PG to help play facilitate and set up their team lowers their chances against a ring this year.
Westbrook should never be shooting more shot attempts than Durant and even Harden.
His shot selection, decision making, and inability to create for others are the difference.

Give SA much credit, with their game plan, execution, and defense.
OKC's streetball style, with players that do not move well off the ball, use set plays, and utilize all players as options is completely the opposite of SA's style of play.
While the talent level, athleticism, length, speed, quickness, and talent goes to OKC, they are unable to execute vs the Spurs.
They exert much more energy, than the Spurs to get a lower % shot. While they may have the edge with the starting lineup, the bench, goes to the Spurs.

I look for them to get a true PG, such as Kidd, Nash, Dragic, in FA or breaking up their team if they do not make this this WCF a series in at least 6 games.
They have 1st round picks and very much talent to use as trade bait to be in discussions with any team.
To me, Kidd makes the most sense if they do not wish to break their team apart, using another year to decide with their big athletic 4 in,

Durant
Westbrook

Harden
Ibaka

but Harden and Ibaka, will be looking for a big pay day in 2 years latest, probably get an offer from another team next year, forcing OKC to decide.
Kidd, no longer has the ability to penetrate, but he is still a great passer, and looks to push the ball at all opportunities.
While he is a step slower, he is still a decent defender when defending SGs with his strength, allowing Westbrook to play SG on offense, and causing havoc on defense vs the PGs.
Kidd, doesn't need to penetrate to the rim with Durant, Harden, and Westbrook, all able to penetrate and will have less decision making to do.
He has improved his 3point shot, which can be used to still keep the defense honest, and spread the floor.
Capable of still throwing alley hoops, to the talented athletic core of OKC, most importantly, improving team oriented play.
While a trade of Westbrook for Williams would work for both teams...

I would not be surprised if they look to add Dwight Howard and acquire a PG, with all the assets they have.
The Spurs are constantly moving on offense, with great all round players, and depth, using everyone as an option.
With everyone touching the ball and getting everyone involved, it opens up the game for everyone.
OKC is 10x more physically talented than the Knicks could possibly be, yet their style shows a weakness.
It may work during majority of the season, but it does not work vs, the elites, and the post season.
How many times have we seen the Knicks, lack ball movement, moving off the ball with the Melo style of offense?
Only during Linsanity, did this style ever change, and is the formula to play in the post season.
We had a much less talented squad, with much more chemistry, and we should continue to build on that, and not thru Melo or Kobe's style of play.

Eric Maynor will be back next year. So I doubt they are thinking of blowing things up. I think they will give it to next season trading deadline or the whole year.

Where is Deron Williams going to go?

Dallas is too old.

Brooklyn is his best bet. Nets still have cap space.

Not if he just wants to play at home. Sucks being a PG if you have no one to pass the orange to and have to do all the scoring. Let him go back out West and out of the East. One less dude to worry about.

Dallas has cap room as well as, with Dirk, good coach in Carlisle, and he's from there. Nets can't keep him if Dwight Howard doesn't come to Brooklyn, and they don't even have the #1 pick to dangle as trade bait, let alone their own draft pick(Pick #6 traded to Portland in Gerald Wallace deal).

My guess is he gets moved on draft night. I like Billy King but he took some risks and quickly got rid of all of the assets the Nets had acquired with Thorn. They are in big trouble if they lose him.

The Indiana Pacers have the rather talented supporting cast, the need, and the cap space...

Dallas has to gut the team to sign Deron Williams.

Deron Williams decision will be about the $$$$.

Brooklyn will have more guaranteed money and endorsements.

2012 Free Agents

Eric Gordon
Kevin Garnett
Michael Beaslely
Kenyon Martin
Roy Hibbert
Javale McGee
Ray Allen

Not the greatest but they can fill out the roster with guys. A good PG could make McGee very good.

Plus they could deal Deron Williams. They could flip Lopez for a lottery pick.

Point is they have options.
