I'm new here to this forum and I find it amazing that people are actually coming up with trade options for STAT or Melo. I just wanna see where people are thinking with this poll.

IMHO, were "stuck" with STAT for the next 3 yrs..and hopefully we can build around Melo in his prime

NO WAY! (not with those contracts) - 0% chance
We must find a way to get rid of at least one of them - 1-24% chance
With the right team looking to unload another contract problem - 25-49% chance
Anything is possible - >50% chance

Can't really vote for any of these. Highly unlikely we trade either. Almost zero percent chance we trade Melo. Simply no players we can get for him that are of similar caliber. And i still don't know why people say we can't trade Stoudemire for 3 years. In 2 years he because a big, fat expiring contract that will be easy to unload for quality players on a team looking to rebuild if we go that route.

I doubt we trade either but when the Howard talks heat up I'm sure Dolan will be in the mix. I predict Amare has a strong comeback year(offensively). I still dont think he really dedicates(bad word choice) really tries much at all defensively. He will always be our weak link on D. I'm hoping we somehow land Nash AND keep Lin which will improve our ball movement, shot quality, and effciency. Ok back to reality...

I don't mind these trade scenarios since there isn't much else to talk about now. Sometimes a poster will come up with something interesting and worth discussing.

I could see Stat traded for another team's problem contract, but right now I think the Knicks are going to see how Melo and Stat play with Woody as their coach from training camp on. See if they come back in shape and ready to ball. See if they actually try working together on the floor. They've been given a pass so far but I believe it ends this upcoming season.

There's always a chance for a trade when it comes to the Knicks. Melo's stock is at a high with his April player of the month performance, while STAT's at an all time low with his season long down year and repeated injuries. There will be no trades though in this offseason, so the point is moot. The Knicks for once are in "continuity" mode with their resigning Grunwald, Woodson, and their public promise to resign Lin. Earliest for a trade would be the trade deadline, so let's just enjoy the ride first and see where we go with a full training camp and everyone healthy and ready to buy into Woody's system.

are people bored or do they really think that trading STAT or MELO will happen?

STAT wont get traded because he "brought" the knix back on the map..but most of all because NO ONE WANTS him...maybe in his last yr when a team is looking to dump salary the following yr. but next yr isnt happening

MELO isnt getting traded because the knicks made a big deal to GET him...Dolan wants him so he will stay

instead of trading possibilities, fans should think of HOW the two can mesh, who to build around them etc etc...i still think we will be a 45-50 win team next yr if we had the right pieces around these 2

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Its a lot harder than it sounds. those two guy make a ton of money and thave both been incosistent. We got lucky with lin and novak who proves that they are valuable pieces and hopefully after the hearing we will have thier bird rights which will help us. Both Sta and melo have the talent to be great overall players buut they focus too much on offense. Now I give melo credit he improved his defense this although he still needs more work on limiting isos and getting his team involved more. Stat needs to get better defensively and hopefully with woodson here that will happen

I saw this reply and then saw that you started the thread. I guess I am a bit confused as to why you would start a thread and then question its merit if that is what you are doing.
I think the Knicks would trade Stat if they could. I think they have already tried and been rejected. There were several rumors about this but I don't recall the details. I think after last season, with his uninsured contract (knees?) he is a pretty tough guy to move. He has always been a character guy but his hand incident even brought his judgement into play.

i seriously wanted to get a feel for what people think of trading those two guys...i thought it was obvious that theres NO WAY that a trade would happen this yr or next...so i just wanted to get a pulse for the forum (since im new here)...

I didn't read your whole initial post and I saw that after. I do think the Knicks will gauge interest in Stat. I don't think they will be able to move him. Melo is the guy Dolan desired so I don't see him going anywhere.

Not even thinking about this if I'm running the Knicks. Aside from trying to sort out the whole Lin/Novak situation, every single resource in this organization should go towards figuring out a way to make the Melo/Amare pairing work. You don't often get a chance to have two legitimate 25 ppg NBA scorers on a squad...don't just give up on it till you've adequately had a chance to make it work.

High chance we trade one of the two, preferably Melo. Can't wait to see him GONE.
