After watching this Western Conference Game 1, I'm excited because Lin looks like a young Tony Parker with a better 3pt shot and a better floater. He definitely looks more like Tony Parker than Steve Nash.

Lol. Here we go.

Jennings looked like young Allen Iverson when he scored 55 points too. Lol

Tough to compare. TP was a starting NBA champion at age 19. His points in the paint are usually top 10 in the NBA but what is astonishing is he is a point guard.

He has proven to be durable and the QB of perhaps the best team in the last decade and a half.

I agree with Pop he should be first team guard. CP3 had a hell of a year and one can flip the coin but they had the best record.

The man is so confident he CHEATED on his wife Eva Longoria!

It would be great if Lin could be that kind of basketball player. Off the court, thats his business.

I think Lin can be like Jeremy Lin type of player. I don't understand the need to compare.

I remember the spurs almost signing jason kidd because popovich wasnt that impressed with parker

Main point: Be patient. Lin will go through tough challenges, but we have to watch him grow

There were parker trade rumors at the time Parker was due for his first contract. I recall duncan being very clear they should give parker his money. Parker was regressing after his rooking start and Think there were a finals where he was not starting. Young players immature? It happens.

In NY we would have crushed him.

Good thought, Lin will have growth pains. I wonder how much better he can get. Same for fields.

Ny fans tend to think players hit the ceiling and we must replace them NOW!!!!!!!

I also remember when Tony Parker was in the Pop doghouse. Now look at how he is viewed. World champion and one of the best point guards of the decade. But the main things that got him there besides his talent, is his humbleness and being coachable.

I agree that Lin should not be compared to Toney Parker, at least not at this stage in Lin career. What I do like about Lin is his ability to finish in the paint. He has also shown that he is humble and coachable. So maybe there is some comparison there.

Look man, he does look like TP. I'm not trying to give false expectations, just noticing similarities that excite me. I wasn't really feeling all the Nash talk, because I didn't see it. But I saw a lot of similarities last night. Just hopeful guys, try not to piss on it too much.

Yea. True that. I really hope we get the chance to go through the whole process with this kid: the ups and downs. Right now our most senior Knick is Douglas entering his 4th year, and there's no guarantee we don't send him out to the waiver wire.

I said this earlier, when I watched Tony Parker play, although, I think Parker is much better than Lin.
I agree, that Lin is much closer to Parker than Nash or Dragic.
Lin still can developed and didn't peak yet, he should watch Parker's game much more because they are similar players in terms of size, strength, and ability to penetrate.
In physical size and skill set Lin can learn and mimic much of what Parker does, with his own style to continue to develop.

Comparing Lin to Parker, Lin still has much more to learn and improve on, while the potential is there.
The greatest difference is the players and coaching in SA, they always played a team game, sacrificing stats, for the better % shot, and the W.
Coach Poppavich, with their staff, gets players that doesn't have big egos to fill, while not trying to make themselves bigger than the game and/or team.

Lin has much to improve on and can learn plenty off Parker, over time and continued development.
I think Parker is much better in penetrating, has a much better floater, developed the shooting off the dribble 17 footer to very consistent, probes much better than Lin, takes contact better, execution.. especially on PnR with the pass, and Parker uses that stop n go with the quick first step especially while using the PnR.
Lin has a tendency to pick up his dribble which he must improve on and add the element of surprise, especially while probing.
He doesn't know how to switch gears very well, only knowing how to go 1 speed all the way.

With that said, Parker was unable to execute, against the length, speed/quickness, and athleticism of OKC's starting lineup, for much of the 1st half, especially in 1st quarter.
Parker and the Spurs had much trouble with OKC's starting lineup, with their defensive intensity, taking Parker's ability to penetrate/facilitate, and move the ball accordingly.

I think Tony Parker is one of the most under rated PGs this year and has improved much since his earlier years.
I use to think it was mainly Duncan, Ginobili, and the Spurs coaching/players that made Parker look much better.
But after watching how he lead the team this year during the season, I have no doubt that he has taken a notch up from his game.
He use to just be a great penetration PG, with the ability to score/finish at the rim, and/or with that floater, made him very touch to stop with his quickness.
But since then, he has mastered the ability to facilitate, his BB knowledge to set up his team, break down the opponents defense, and use his ability to penetrate to set his team up since his first years. With the improvement of shooting the 3point shot, shooting off the dribble anywhere within 17 footer, hitting clutch baskets, directing his younger players, and being one of the floor generals with Duncan and Ginobili.

YES! Improved tremendously. And that's what I hope we hang in on Lin to see.

Ya Tony really is a great pg hopefully lin does at least come within half of what he has done that would make me happy. Also Parker is one lucky SOB being able to bang both Eva Longoria and Erin Barry

I think Lin is on par with Parker's second or third season in the league. It gives a lot of optimism for the future.

Lin showed flashes - but we have to wait and see how things play out.

I hope we can get the bird rights on both Lin and Novak - that would help retain them and give us room to approve.

And then lets see if Lin can maintain his play for a full, regular season of play. Some guys just can't stay healthy, but have world beating talent.

yeah i think it's too early in Lin's career to compare him to anybody. he's still raw and needs to work on his weaknesses.
One thing that makes me optimistic about Lin though is his ability to shine in the big spot. that's a trait that not many talented players possess—especially in NY.

Lin to Tony Parker??? You guys cease to amaze me. Let Lin have a few seasons under his belt first, the guy barely played half a season.

First I must say, my favorite player is John Starks....And I've always been compared to him, in my own mind. We are both streaky shooters, undersized and usually guard the best players.

But I don't know why people hate comparing players. I think it benefits the player to know that if you work hard and study Tony Parker's game....you have a higher probability of reaching his skill level vs Steve Nash.

I think the Parker comparison also shows the fans that you can play like Tony Parker, and still win a championship. Every pg does not have to play like Steve Nash, to win a championship. So I'm with you on this comparison. Hopefully Lin agrees....This way he can start improving what he's already good at, and stop trying to be something he's not. He's a penetrating PG, that looks to attack first and set up team mates second.....Something I thought Tony Parker was good at. And I was one of those fans that didn't think it would work.....But TP proved me wrong.

Lin should model his game after Tony Parker....And maybe he would never reach that level, but anything close is great. Personally, I think he's better in the second unit next year learning from proven PG's like Parker, Steve Nash or Andre Miller.....Then as he gets stronger and quicker, he should be a beast.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

I rewatched a few games after MDA yesterday. I thought it would be good to watch the Knicks after watching the Spurs continue their run to the championship.

I'll be brief, Lin needs a lot of work. He finishes well at the basket but his decision making and soft passes are just head scratchers.

I will also say that the Knicks rarely played with the intensity of the remaining playoff teams. We got what we deserved.
