Very cool. The post article says he would want many years, but.. Maybe his team over there will give him more money than a vets min is, which is just about what we can offer. So, with that in mind maybe he wouldn't want a long contract from us , since we cannot pay much. What we could provide for him is NBA exposure that could drastically change his career. One year vet min !!!
Everything you have ever wanted is on the other side of fear- George Adair

YOu tube Geo!

The music, the highlights, the kid is a winner!!!!!

One year vet min vs. multi year life time security is not gonna happen.

Not to sit on the bench.

If he is good then lock him up or trade him for a pick.

YouTube GEO! Yeah!

Is he better than Jorts?

i know we are watching all his highlights, so it can be misleading, but he looks very impressive.
playing euro-ball, they play with constant movement, something we seriously need.
he looks like he can post up, deadly shot, and can be a force on both ends.

A Euro hybrid of Taj Gibson, Ak47, with a blend of Ilyasova, and capable of playing the SF or/and PF.
this is the type of playing we desperately need.
I hope Linsanity spread all the way to europe, and will affect his agent and his feelings about coming over.
Unfortunately, we probably will need to dig in to our MLE to sign him, but he looks like he is worth the risk to me.

Breaking our MLE to 2 players seems to be our best choice, given our situation.
We just might have to let Fields walk because every dollar makes a difference since Stat, Melo, and TC are making 53million themselves with being over 74-75m losing our MLE.
Maybe even trading TD for cap relief, 2nd round pick, and even though he was a bum this year, I fear we can develop in to a good backup combo guard in the right system.

The more I think about it, the more I would entertain the offer of Joe Johnson for Amare, because Joe Johnson has the ability to play backup PG as a G/F.
That will allow players like TD, Iman, JR Smith, Melo, and even Lin, to have another threat on the floor.
Allowing these players to spread the floor and take good shots vs Amare being horrible of defense, and part of the problem with poor spacing.

I think STAT can be replaced in production by these type of players, improve us a team, allow Melo and TC to be better, maybe even excel our defense, and open up the games for us....

Printezis

Kenyon Martin

Reggive Evans

Reggie Evans

Jared Jeffries especially if healthy, do we have his early bird rights as well, with 2 years of minimum contracts? Do we get his full bird rights next year if he signs another 1year?

Mahimi

Brandon Wright

Odom *if he goes to play for the Olympics, he will at least be practicing, be in better shape, and come back hungry. Either breaking up the MLE or with the bi annual exemption*

don't we still have scouts in Europe? Shouldn't be hard for us to determine his value as an NBA player based on our Euro scouts first hand experience. I'm sure we will offer him what his NBA value is and not get into a bidding war over what his Euro league value is. Either he wants to play in the NBA or not....we shall see

2007 RBK Eurocamp: Day Four
June 14, 2007
Giorgos Printezis clearly saved his best for last here at the RBK Eurocamp, coming up with one of the most impressive individual performances seen in the four days of action. He led the RBK all-star game in scoring in a rout over the U20 Russian National team, showing off glimpses of his many versatile skills.

The first would be his very quick first step, which he used on numerous occasions to make some very strong moves to the basket. He doesn’t have great body control or explosiveness to contort himself in traffic and finish super creatively around the hoop, but he is intelligent enough to usually get the job done. Having a prototypical frame for an NBA small forward, complete with excellent strength, he is able to finish strong even after taking contact. Printezis crashed the glass pretty well also, showing nice quickness in the process and the toughness and aggressiveness to get the job done.

Where Printezis was at his best in this game was probably behind the 3-point line, though—knocking down shot after shot when left open on the perimeter. He’s not the kind of guy who will openly look to create shots for himself from behind the arc, but if given a second to square his shoulders and set his feet, he showed that he has the ability to hit his shots at a very nice clip. He made a living in this game off the catch and shoot.

Something we came away still unsure about following this camp was Printezis’ ability to defend athletic small forwards on the perimeter, even if his lateral quickness does not look all that poor. This is something that NBA teams might want to take a closer look at if they bring him in for NBA private workouts leading up to the draft. Printezis did a very nice job here, going from being almost completely off the radar to giving NBA scouts we spoke with plenty of food for thought regarding whether he might be worth investing a 2nd round pick on. At the end of the day, that’s what camps like this are really all about.

2007 RBK Eurocamp: Day Two (Part Two)
June 12, 2007
The Greek forward is looking good in this camp. After a whole year playing the power forward spot, he's getting playing time at the three position and is faring pretty well, taking advantage of his very nice combination of strength and athleticism.

Actually, his physical profile seems tailor-made for a small forward, standing somewhere around 6-8, with broad shoulders, a strong upper body, but also relatively quick and light feet. Most of the positional concerns about him revolve around his skill repertoire, certainly a bit limited for what you would like from a wing player.

Starting with what he can do, Printezis is a decent shooter with three-point range, but only in static situations. He can also put the ball on the floor to attack the basket, looking aggressive and incisive. He can go all the way to the rim taking advantage of his explosiveness to dunk the ball or leave a high layup. His first step is quite good, although he needs to find a clear path since his ball-handling skills are not that good. He can also pass the ball off the drive showing nice criteria. He's runs the court very well, being able to explode towards the rim. He's also nicely aggressive on defense, with lateral quickness that seems to work against orthodox small forwards.

On the negative side, his average ball-handling skills limit his off-the-dribble abilities. He's not a good dribbler in traffic, he doesn't seem to be able to pull-up for a mid-range jumper, and in general he seriously lacks some ability from inside the arc.

He is getting high praised in Europe, i believe he would seek a multiyear contract in which we would have to use the MLE on.
It might be best to wait till next year, to use the Mini MLE on, but if his contract is up in Europe, he would sign a new one this year with his performance.
That would leave us little chances of acquiring his talents, unless we sign him to contract this year.

We really should consider moving Amare, especially if we can get many players this off season to fill his hole.
Whether if its for Joe Johnson, a smaller deal of quality players that Gasol got offered by Houston for, or even an expiring contract to go under the cap next year.

I think TC was putting too much pressure on himself, constantly covering other players, and helping our weak links.
The defenses knew he was going to help EVERYTIME, causing bad positioning, and offensive RBS on the other end when he did.
He needs players that can REBOUND, come on the weak side to alter/block shots, while he can choose when to help or not.
Instead he needs, players that can actually hold their own, receive some help from his team, and allow him to rest on bench.

Right now, TC and Iman need players that give that effort/intensity, have heart, and have that ability to play together.
Unfortunate that Iman cannot develop his game this summer, while he could have had a huge improvement given his worth ethic and physical abilities.
Players that understand the importance of a stop, take pride in it, and
Players that can play like, some the younger versions, versatile players, with length, HEART, and athleticism...
Improve our defense and take it to the greatest level possible, while letting our offense come to us off, sharing the ball, give ball movement, penetration, transition, and post up.

Some of these players of FA's, some player options, and some not possible unless through trade.
I am just using these players to suggest the type of players we should target, how they get magnify our defense, and many would not require much $.
Some may need part of the MLE, Bi annual, but many can also be for the veteran minimum. I would not mind bringing this guy over, and filling out another need with the MLE.

Keep an open eye for who will be available for veterans minimum on these type of players.....
I think we have to team Tyson Chandler up with 2-3 players defensively, some can be bench players, but that will give us the best chance of solidifying our defense as true contenders.

Why not trade him and Douglas/S&T Fields for a second round pick to someone with cap space?

this is the only way I see him being used by us- as packaged in a deal- though I might try to get a late first rounder - perhaps Douglas, him & our 2nd rounder for a late first rounder...

I agree but I don't think you can move Douglas and acquire something. At this point he is a cap liability until he proves otherwise. I do think that Printezis and the Knicks second round pick might net a first round pick. Or he could be sent out for another second round pick. It sounds like he would command a salary that the Knicks can't give him with their cap situation.

I wouldn't say Printezis is NBA material. He played quite well at Olympiakos a couple of years ago, after that he arrived at Spanish league. He wasn't capable of being a starter. Now, he is playing for Olympiakos again.
Otherwise,I must say that he scored the last and definitve basket in Euroleague final, just a few days ago. http:///www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOKmwDxYAEs
He doesn't play good defense and lacks of rebounding. However, the guy can shoot 3's.

It doesn't sound like the Knicks can sign him with their cap situation. Big Smooth posted yesterday that the Knicks used their 3 million that they are allowed to use to in trades/pick purchases to move Turiaf so they will not be able to buy a pick this year. I think if they can move Printezis's rights for a pick they should.
