This is potentially enormous news for the Knicks if an arbitrator rules in the Unions favor. It would mean the Knicks would hold Lins and Novaks early bird rights. This would mean we could sign them, not have them count against the cap and keep our full mid level.

union's argument makes a lot of sense. would not be surprised to see an arbitrator go with the union's interpretation. go knicks!!

so, Novak, Lin and maybe Nash!

Seems a very reasonable argument from the union. Would be excellent if the decision could be reached before the start of FA.

I don't think Nash will sign for the full MLE. If Orlando gets MDA, I can see him going there to pair with Dwight.

I thought the rumor to Orlando was shot down. I believe I read that D'Antoni plans on taking the year off to let his son graduate from high school without having to relocate.

I would use the MLE on a player who isn't 40 and 45 when his contract comes off the books

Same here. I love Nash but I would use the full MLE for a shooting guard that can shoot the 3.

I am in the opposite boat. Shooting guards can be found, but a PG of Nash's skill level is one of a kind.

Knicks D should be solid enough, it's about getting Amare, Chandler, Melo in spots where they can all be effective on the O end.

And what he could teach Lin would be invaluable.

3 year deal would be worth every penny.

I think Nash here would actually stunt Lin's growth. I think Lin is ready to lead this team. Lin obviously has the skillset and talent to be a very good PG, but what I really admired about Lin was how directed and communicated with his teammates which included the superstars. I would like to spend the MLE somewhere else.

Exactly Marco Belinelli is the guy id bring in then sign a backup pg kidd/flynn and a vet pf/c. Resign Lin, Novak & JR

Plus there is an outside shot that bringing in Belinelli appeases the Italian Gallo fans on this board and we won't have to ever here his name again

As much as I like Lin the more I think about it I would get someone that is capable of starting just to be safe. Who knows if he goes into a Landry super slump. I doubt it but you never know. I also would still sign Flynn because he can be had a the minimum and injuries can happen.

yea thats why I had Kidd ahead of Flynn. At least you have someone with experience to step in if anything were to happen to Lin. Kidd became a very good defender in Dallas and I think he would be happy to join Tyson. And he already said he would love to play in NY

Delonte West, Patty Mills, Jamaal Tinsley are better options then Kidd (wishful thinking) and Flynn IMO.

Patty Mills. That is the backup PG we need.
