"The Hawks have to decide what to do with their team after their first-round loss to Boston. Expect to hear Joe Johnson's name linked to trade talks, potentially with the Knicks, among other teams, especially with Mike Woodson coaching the team. Johnson would solve a lot of ills, especially at the defensive end, where he can guard multiple positions. New York finished second to Atlanta when Johnson was free in 2010. It's just hard to imagine that Hawks ownership would take a shot on Amar'e Stoudemire, with $64 million left on his deal. But never say never."

Atlanta may shake the team up a little and may be willing to make the deal with Johnson having a longer contract and being one year older. He's much more durable, but i would say the contract's have similar value considering various factors. Johnson is an iso player like Melo, but would bring 3-point shooting and defense to the lineup, 2 things this team needs. His ability to play off the ball as well as create pick and roll plays would make him a better fit with Melo as well. It's just a thought, and i know his contract might be the worst in basketball, but he is probably a better fit than Stat with Melo and Chandler.

If we lose jr smith, it might make some sense but I would rather look into a amare/chandler for Howard deal.

Not sure ATL would do that deal. They do have to move Josh Smith as I would go with Joe and HOrford at PF.

I just don't think Amare is that tradable.

Tyson/Chandler for Dwight/Hedo?

Nope.

Lets put it this way, if Amare is at all thought as being able to fulfil most of his contract and add value to a team I'd just assume he play here.

If not, he is not tradable.

As bad as Amar'e was this past season, he did show signs of becoming his old self. And I'm willing to wait to see if he can come back and fit with the team.

Joe Johnson's contract is a killer, and at a year longer, the kind I would want to avoid if I am remaking the Knick roster for now and the future.

As bad as it feels to hold the paper on Amare's deal, I wouldn't wipe my arse with JJ's deal. He's playing well, but he doesn't fit, his deal is too long and he's too old. No more Starphucking. If we can trade Amare, it should be for picks, cap flexibility and role players.

JJ would fit as a player. Not thinking about him as a iso player, but as a knock-down 3point shooter. I love our group of Melo, Lin, and Chandler along with Shumpert, but we have to get someone in the lineup who can shoot the basketball at a consistent rate from the three. Novak is great off the bench, but we need someone in the lineup who can play big minutes and make defenses pay for hedging on lin and Melo. If no one can keep the defense honest then we are in trouble. A lineup of Chandler, Stat, Melo, Shumpert or Fields, and Lin has no one that can knock down shots off the ball.

No, because Joe Johnson is not a legitimate star and putting him and Carmelo on the same team will ensure that those 2 will take 99% of the team's shots.

The same Joe Johnson who never talks to his mates on the court?

The same Joe Johnson who went scoreless in the game the Hawks needed him most?

The same painfully shy guy who could not put together a coherant sentence if he was in front of a firing squad?

The same Joe Johnson who shot 37 per cent in the playoffs?

No thank you.

I would do as a three team trade and maybe even four but the major players would be ATL, NY, and Indy. If Indy's stars do not show up in the series I think they will look long and hard about trading either Granger or George.

Indy---Johnson and Williams

ATL----STAT, Douglas, and future pick from Indy

Ny----Granger, and ATl second rounder

I don't know exactly how it would work with the secondary pieces but I think Johnson, STAt, And Granger would fit in each place.

Stat versus Joe as your second option, the knicks have to consider it.

A 2/3 guy that plays some D and can hit the three ball

versus

A 4/5 guy that needs elbow area to work and the pick roll, plays no D and rebounds softly

A guy who conflicts with Melo and Chandler versus a guy who might conflict with Melo???

I think I would take Joe. His percentages aren't down like Stats, he is just talking less shots in Atlanta. Stat is breaking down.

I would if we they take TD for Teague as well. Teague would be a nice 6th man for us.

Don't like the extra year of Johnson's contract but he fits in better with Melo & Tyson.

He would spread the floor out some more so Lin & Tyson can run their pick & roll.

Actually prefer Johnson at the 3 & Melo at the 4.

Sign J. Kidd to back-up Lin or start. Use min exception to sign a vet big.

Line-up

Pg: Lin, J. Kidd
Sg: Shumpert, Teague
Sf: Johnson, Fields
Pf: Melo, Harrelson
C: Chandler, Jordan

Fuck, if Melo and Stat can't play together, what chance do Melo and Johnson have?

Hells to the no. Joe Johnson and Melo ISOs all day, YIKES! I'd rather see the balanced attack, Lin/Nash PNR with Amare/Chandler mixed in with Melo ISO next year.

Am I one of the only people in the world that think Joe Johnson is a very good player? I don't know if he fits in with our team any better than Stat but the guy can flat out shoot !
Would you guys trade Stoudemire for Joe Johnson?
