Amare Stoudemire says the Knicks' "Big 3" of Tyson Chandler, Carmelo Anthony and himself ranks "right there at the top" with the Lakers trio of Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant, the Heat's Big Three and Oklahoma City's duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westrbook.

Stoudemire thinks the Knicks' trio needs a full 82-game season together before they can be truly judged.

Here's Stoudemire's explanation:

"I think as players with Carmelo, myself and Tyson as a foundation trio -- you can't ask for a better lineup than that in the NBA," he said. "You have LeBron (James), Dwyane (Wade) and Chris Bosh (in Miami), you have Westbrook and Durant and you have Kobe, Bynum and Gasol. But I mean, we're right there at the top of the bunch with (our) trio.

Wow. Didn't Stat invite himself to a meeting of the marquee free agent class of 2010 also?

They have a lot to prove this coming season..No more excuses..No lockout excuse, no practice excuse, no coach excuse, no schedule excuse...I just hope we get a PG who can make the game easier for our bigs..

Looks like you have already started the PG excuse.

Doesn't have to be an excuse...STAT is asking for it..Get it done..Just watching Indy play...If Tyler Handsbrough was a Knick, and was having the year he bad and management brough in West this board would lose their collective minds...

I thought the point guard excuse was an ongoing acceptable excuse since Larry Brown coached the Knicks.

I can go back to countless threads stating that MDA had no PG so how can he be blamed.

I think Lin can be the guy, We just don't know how good his handle will get/be against intense pressure and traps.

The risk is we have no idea if he can handle the rigors of an 82 game season..I would love him be the PG but it's asking a lot for management to have questions at both backcourt positions going into next season...Maybe it's just me..

Nope - I completely hear ya

This decision is huge and I have no idea nor do I have a strong opinion on what the right answer is.

GG needs to get 2 PG's in here somehow.

Here we go with the talking. It seems we do represent NY well in the sense that we always try to be in the headlines, even if the results that count never come close to our success with empty words.

Here we go with high expectations, not from fans that know this team well, but the rest that either believes these empty words or uses them to meassure them during the next season.

I think Amar'e is the least that should be talking. Of our "so called" big three, he has to be the weakest because of his unexisting defense, lack of rebounding, inconsistent scoring, lots of turnovers and lack of mental strength highlighted by a fight with a fire extinguisher. As mentioned above, this is a pretty weak attempt at avoiding a trade, which would've been easy had he played up to his potential an respected the team by not injuring himself during an already uphill battle with a better team.

I wish the Knicks were like the Yankees in regards to talking vs. backing up your words. You may like or dislike the Yanks, but guys like Jeter and Mariano represent all of what's good about sports: respect, class, dignity, accountability and consistency. They've had their bad season, yet they never of sight their purpose and never disrespect the game with empty talk and no action.

PG? Coach? Injuries? There will always be an excuse. Or if the high-spending fans run out of excuses, Dolan will pull off another starphuck in order to reset the clock.

It amazes me that writers and players always mention the same teams and players when listing big 3s but never or rarely mention Duncan, Parker, and Ginobli.

That's a great point. They're not flashy enough but they're as effective as any big 3. Their third best player (whichever it is!) is light years ahead of any other teams #3.

What franchise is dumb enough to take that contract, other than us? No, not even MJ is that dumb.
