Tyson, Melo & Amare all said Woodson did a hell of a job with a team that was in shambles all year. He has the respect of his players. He is also close to Grunwald so he is most likely getting an extension. Not his fault the team was further depleted in the playoffs against the video game Miami Heat. Not his fault JR & Novak stunk up the joint. Bring in Phil and insert a whole new offensive & defensive system with a whole other year to gel.

Now on to the players...

Stay
-----
Melo
Amare(unless you find a taker)
Tyson
Shump
Lin
Novak
Harrelson
Bibby(Maybe)
Jordan(Maybe)
2nd RD Pick

Need guard depth. Can someone post free agent list again?

*add young backup to Lin Bibby alone doesn't cut it
*add 6th man preferably at SG could be a veteran who can shoot. Need depth at SG with Shump missing first 4months
*Make Jorts backup C maybe add a 3rd string veteran PF/C and let Jordan go
*Maybe trade Fields, Douglas & co for vet or move up in the draft

Go
-----
JR
Fields
Jeffries
Davis
Douglas
Gadz

No sense in keeping any of those guys cos with the cap situation every million counts. Why waste it on ineffective players?

So who do we keep, who do we let go & who do we bring in?

Just got done watching the postgame vids of Amare, Chandler, and Melo.

Amare making excuses about the team changing the 1st yr and the coach changing the 2nd year. Dude making excuses like him playing like pure **** wasnt his fault.

Chandler talking about playing team ball and needing to work on his offensive game. Dude has been in the league dam near a decade. Stop it.

Those 2 are a season away from being cap killers.

JR smith would be a priority for me. Unless we find a cheaper replacement. I know he didnt play well in this series but heplays really good defense and is perfect as a 6th man.

We also need a PG and another athletic 4-5 big from the draft. Or maaybe jerome jordan can do something.

Fields, Novak, Davis, Jeffries, gadzs r gone.

Id keep toney douglas if hes cheap enough. He can play d and bang an open shot.

JR has the reputation of being a 'streaky' shooter but don't you need to have good streaks for that? This year, I don't recall him having a single streak in which he dominated or took over a particular game. There were some big clutch shots in games, but no streak, and even then you'd never call it efficient. I admire his effort on D, and tolerated some of his unsmarts on the court by chalking it up to lack of playtime with the team, but with the season over, his playoff performance is I think fairly representative of his regular season play, or at least not far from it.

Ah, yes that game. He was 7 for 14 that game for three pointers, which is Novak's average everyday percentage. Okay, one good streak.

That was a fun game, but people rather went crazy as if they could do that on a regular basis. Come playoffs, Novak and JR were a different story.

I want Melo to stay but I want him to recognize that he could get 8 to 10 assists a game IF HE WANTED TO!!
Tyson needs to get a short to mid range shot, defenses cheat on him a lot.
Amare needs to get the ball more (12 to 15 shots a game).
Fields and Jeffries do have value.
If J.R. leaves, I won't cry but he has value.
Baron Davis is probably done, no real decision to be made.
I don't see Gadzuric coming back.
Still not sure about Douglas...if they quit trying to make him a point guard, he'd probably be OK (too much pressure).
I'm Ok with Bibby
Shump won't be back until well into the season.
Lin is good,
Novak and Jorts for sure
I have no idea what to make of Jordan.

8-10 assists? Thats cute.

Tyson aint developing a mid range shot

Amare 12-15 shots a game? Maybe but that will coincide with 5 BA'a and 8 turnovers

Tough season, can't wait til next season though.

The big three:

I think Amare will be shopped, likely stays on though. He took 7 shots, 6 free throws and had 5 turnovers in the game. That adds up to about 12-15 shots to me, because Amare only get's turnovers while taking shot attempts. He needs better attempts in my mind, a point guard that could penetrate would help this.

Tyson Chandler is fine as a defensive who finishes around the rim. If he adds a 10 foot shot that's even better, but he is fine as is.

Carmelo Anthony is fine as the the teams number 1 option, helps on the boards and plays his man pretty tough defensively. If he get's more constant with the team defense, that makes us even better next season.

Promotions from with in:

Shumps will be back better than ever in December. Looking forward to his return.

Lin should be back, hopefully he starts next season where he left off this year.

Tony is a question mark, maybe an off season will help straighten him out.

Looking forward to Jorts year 2, he should be in the rotation next year off the bench.

Like wise, Jerome Jordan is hitting a point in his career where he should be able to contribute off the bench at center.

It was nice knowing you:

JR Smith never really grew on me, hope for the best for him some where else. He is too streaky to be anything but your 5th best player/ scoring option.

Steve Novack..... really down on him. As a tweener 3/4 he really puts alot of pressure on the line up being a poor defender and nothing but a spot up three point shooter. An athletic team that doesn't want him to shoot can shut him down pretty easily. I don't think he'll be back.

JJ2 is also another guy who puts alot of pressure on your line up with his lack of offensive skills.

Landry Fields needs to be sign and traded. Really doesn't matter where he goes, but knicks should be able to bring back a decent backup like Omar Casspi or Courtney Lee...........hell even Von Waffer or Shawn Williams.

Barons career is over, probably Bibbys too and what's he's face played in like 1 game for us.

FA and Draft:

Free agency probably doesn't start for the knicks til Jeremy Lin signed, I would like to see a deal that allows the knicks to pick up one more player for the bench.

I think Johnny Flynn could be brought in cheaply. He could have been the point guard if the Knicks could have swung a deal for him.

I would like to rob the Nets of Gerald Wallace. He was twice as good as JR Smith to end the season and we have a open starting 2 guard spot to start the season.

Also I think Nate should get a look to fill in the scoring off the bench/back up point guard.

Knicks probably draft one of these senior point guards in the second round of the draft to compete for the backup spot as well.

2012/13
TC/JJ3
Amare/Jorts
Melo/Omar Casspi
Shumps/Greald Green/TD
Lin/Flynn/Draft pick

Really believe this team will be very strong next year..... I'm out.

I am not sold on JR. His game is too undisciplined and when you combine that with Melo's equally undiscipline ISO style of play, you get what we saw last night. If he stays for $2.5 mil, we will have tobe happy because we probably could not get a better option for that money.

I don't like Fields anymore. He is a good kid that plays decent defense and is active, but he is just too tenative on offense and his shot is terrible. Unless he improves dramatically in his aggressiveness and in his shooting ability, we are better off trying to trade him for a 1st round pick.

We need to resign Novak, and then he needs to work on a one-step/two-step pull up jumper. He has got to expand his offense beyond hitting set jumpers.

We need to let Bibby go and go find a young PG who can penetrate and hit an open jumper. Bibby was good in that he did not turn the ball over, but he was too much of a liability in all of aspects of the game.

Jeffries can stay and we should be able to resign him cheap. Keep working on that jumper and finishing around the basket.

We need to trade douglas for a second round pick. We should be able to get that for him.

Gone:
Davis --will be working as a broadcaster, csreer is done
Bibby -- thanks for the effort
Gadzuric -- bonafide scrub
Jeffries -- I love the effort, but the offensive game is just non existent

Trade: separately for picks, or in a package for a legit SG
Fields --the fact he's a starter on any team in the nba is beyond me
TD --his head and heart just isnt there

Resign:
Novak
Lin (convince him to take less for the improvement of the team) plus he got a **** load of endorsements
smith (was over used, if he comes back cheap then ok, if not let him walk)

Free agents:
DJ Agustine (cha) wont be hard to pry him away from a ****ty team
Delonte west (dal) played really wel despite injuries, the guy is a head case, but he got game
Ryan Anderson (orl) played well, orl would most probably resign him
Javale Mcgee (den) Cocky, would love NY, perfect back up for chandler
Andre miller (den) still crafty enough to start, smart enough to run an offense, humble enough to come off the bench
Chris Kaman (NOH) backup center
marco bellinelli (NOH) smart 2Guard, would prefer him over fields anyday
Michael Redd (phx) defensive liability, but would be great off the bench, and would come cheap
Shannon Brown (phx) played like **** in a contract yr, hurt his value, may want a change of scenery
Anthony Randolph (min) maybe a comeback? who am i kidding

Belinelli would be a perfect backup SG and starter until Shump gets back. Then get a backup pg like West or Flynn and we're golden

I pretty much think this is spot on.

JR - gone, too costly for a bench "chucker" who messes up any offense flow. Love his defense, but not his disruptiveness.

Novak - keeper, but I agree he needs a second option for scoring. But letting a 47% 3pt shooter go is crazy. It's on the coach to figure out how to get him more looks. Having a real PG will help his game immensely and get him the rock when h has the3 1" he needs to get off a shot.

Fields - Trade him for best pick we can get. He broke his shot and lost his confidence. He doesn't bring enough value to keep. Rather click "reset" and try to get lucky in the draft. If he fixes his shot, he should regain his confidence and prolong his career. If he comes back with that awkward, flat brick-making shyte again, he won't be around much longer.

Fishlips - Tough call. He is a heck of a defensive asset, but the fumbling, no-layup making offensive liability may be tough to have on the floor in the post-season. He brings something though. Maybe sign for a minimum.

BDiddy & Bibby - Baron is done. No coming back from those injuries at his age. Bibby, might resign for minimum and let him ride the bench. But he should probably just retire.

TD - Go away please...far away. I hope you never wear a Knicks uniform again. I wish you well in your career, but can't see where you'll do well. Maybe as a backup 2 someplace, just not here.

Woody - If Jax says "no", we resign him and hope he puts together an offensive scheme that works. He seemed to have nothing but "get Melo the rock" this year. But seeing as he inherited a team in shambles, he did an amazing job keeping the ship afloat. 18-6 based on defense is a nice start. And we did win one at the Garden. Resign him unless Jax wants in.
