i like woody. and i would like to think that he's looking out for Lin. apparently there's a lot of pressure for Lin to come back for this series. and by woody saying Lin's out of shape and not ready to come back takes the pressure off.

dude is playing 3on3 in practice. If it 5on5 full court and, if he is cutting well then maybe. Can't blame this on woodson.

Heck, I hope he doesn't come back. What for, so his groupies can get their fix. Let the guy get healthy for next year when it will matter since, history says this series is over.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I'm also in if Lin is healthy he should play camp, but he is a Harvard Grad and is no dummy. Little selfish of him but smart career wise. He wants that guaranteed raise and 3 yr deal first, so really can't fault him for that.

how is it selfish when he hasn't even been cleared for 5on5 practice yet, only 3on3!!! You groupies kill me the way you ignore facts.

Selfish? You defend Melo against any suggestion of selfishness on his part, and now this? You have nothing but your own self created conjecture that Lin DOESN'T want to play. And it's OK to use that to call him selfish?

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

You guys are unbelievable. If he's not ready, why bother practicing and risk re-injury? Why even bother pretending like there's a chance you could come back? Just sit out the rest of the postseason, sign your contract and get ready for next year, no need to tease fans if you're gonna pull this crap. Look at the effect Al Horford had coming back for Atlanta also down 3-1. It's 100% selfish. You see BD and Iman falling by the wayside and you don't want to back up your boys? C'mon now Hatters, look no further than the example of Al Horford last night.

There's this thing called rehab and physical therapy.

Have you never been injured?

Tore my achilles, worst 6 - 8 months of my life. The guy is practicing a month later, really can't compare a slight meniscus tear to an Achilles Tendon tear.

so why aren't you getting the fact that this is standard procedure for an injury and exactly what he should be doing?

Exactly, so why is he already practicing 3 on 3, and if this was the NFL, he'd be "Questionable" for each playoff game, meaning it's possible to play. Why doesn't he just shut it down for the remainder of the season and continue rehabbing and stop giving people false hope? I don't doubt his heart, but I do question his toughness. Al Horford played his first game in 3 months after tearing his titty muscle off, to me that sounds infinitely worst then a slight meniscus tear. Arod and Nadal have played on slight meniscus tears. This is all about protecting his #1 investment, his career, and being able to sign on the dotted line this summer.

Because he will not step on court until he is 100%. It is not worth it right now down 3-1 to play with pain when you jump and cut and reinjure and miss next season. If the Knicks somehow prolong the series you can ease him back in but chances of that happening with or without Lin are as slim as it gets. The plan was to come back round 2. Get there first! 3 on 3 is not 5 on 5 running up & down the court with Miami

Being cleared to play, being ready, and being effective are really very different levels of preparedness.

He might be able to play, but really is he going to be effective?

When Linsanity ended we were left with the reality of a great kid who is NBA ready and has some very nice talents and athletic skills that have some very nice upside.

He is certainly first round type talent and very young. ANd a marketing cash cow for MSG!

Any thought about what woodsone is "thinking" beyond any quote you read from a credible source is pure speculation.

If Lin could play and contribute with relative safety then he plays. If he is rusty and not prepared then why bother?

Mostly you should stop reading the newspaper reports that give YOU false hope. I don't recall Lin being proactive about having regular announcements, he is just doing rehab while the NY beat staff pester him about when he is coming back.

Also, this is NOT the NFL, it's the NBA, so there are no comparisons.

And I would think that 3 on 3 is part of his rehab, no?

So he can come back, get hurt like Shump and be out for next year while we still lose because he is not even close to being 100%.

More than Half the posters are saying the same (correct) thing with logical reasoning yet, he refuses to get it.
What that tells me is dude is a groupie and everyone knows groupies are nutz.

who doesn't know that 3on3 is part of rehab :) Lmao at him using that to try and prove his argument.

He obviously doesn't want to jeopardize his upcoming free agent contract status, that's the only argument I have, which is 100% correct. SAS wasn't far off on his criticism, is 15 minutes a game too much??? Last time I checked 3 on 3 basketball is not stretching, resistance bands, swimming pool running, and strengthening exercises(I've gone through heavy rehab). Maybe the word "selfish" is too strong for you Lin lovers, so I'll say he's "cognizant" of not ruining his free agent chances.
