It has come to this. I remember when I loved seeing Douglas on the court. He was pretty good at creating his own shot and then the injuries and problems started to happen.

This has been a bit of a Cinderella season for us with Lin, I do hope Douglas can rise to the occasion if he gets minutes tonight. I think it will depend on if JR is on or not, but we'll see. Perhaps JR will play some PG, more than likely with Baron out but a little bit of Douglas as SG is worth a try.

Douglas is not a PG, but in the past he sure could shoot and he was also a very good to GREAT defender, very very pesky. I say we give him some minutes just to see where he is at. If he plays good then give him more.

maybe see the other thread about TD & Woodson.

TD isn't playing tonight. If he does, I'd be shocked.

Putting the words "we need" and "Toney Douglas" in the same sentence is a recipe for disappointment and dejection.

I concur.

What "we need" is for JR Smith to shoot well and god knows he's due.

I don't want to rely on needing another 40+pts from Melo tonight... Not on the road.

I can't imagine for very long.

Douglas compounds dumb play with poor shooting and defense; 5mins tops.

Tony D appears to be all screwed up from a mental standpoint - not have a good sense of when to shoot or drive or pass... nor does he seem to have a good sense of when to play his man tight or give room. The latter is a bigger problem, because his man is always open.

At the very least, what Bibby does is always give his man the jump shot - a lower % shot for most players than a layup. That also generally eliminates the "and 1"... and puts his big men at less risk for foul trouble.

If TD isn't playing many minutes, who is the backup point guard?

Landry definitely needs to be moved. His jump shot is broken, he sags on defense which burns us and if I have to see that floater of his drop short of the rim again I might break something.
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

We just need 5-10 minutes tops of turnover free ball if Toney does play. Anymore than that, and we'll see early sightings of Gadzuric and Jerome Jordan against Eddie Curry and Turiaf in early garbage time.

Did he say "attack the rim"?

That wasn't Toney Douglas, that was Jeremy Lin.

I remember Woody a few weeks ago (just before regular season ended) saying (complaining) that Douglas couldn't call plays and that he (Woody) couldn't call it all the time, being on the sidelines.

Douglas simply is not a PG. Doesn't have the mental makeup to be one. This could be made up if he could shoot and lock down defenders, but that disappeared as well this year.

So expect broken plays with Douglas in; my only hope is that on some of these plays he is able shoot the ball decently, and at least not allow Cole or Chalmers to have highlight reels.

With no PG, don't expect Novak to get hot.

Therefore, our best hope is JR gets lucky, really lucky. And Fields has a mini streak. And Bibby doesn't collapse in the fourth.

even when Dumdum would reach the basket he would pull up for that rediculous floater that NEVER goes in. Beyond that he runs around aimlessly in circles passing to no one.

Guys, the negativity isn't helping. Douglas at one time was a very good young player and he even had a good game before his last bad one. He very much can return.

Douglas can drive and finish OK. Don't overlook his defense. I'm not saying he is the savior but he can be an important piece and if Quauntum Physics and String theory are at all right, the hate around here isn't helping him nor the team. Bring some good vibes. He has my support tonight and if he doesn't play well, well, play him or JR, whoever plays better.
