Of course, everyone KNOWS there is no in hell our Knicks win this series but...

... the win on Sunday breaks a huge mental barrier. The Knicks now know they CAN defeat the Heat... and the Heat understand the Knicks will not go away without a fight. Before we talk of the series, the drama boils down to one game that can make the series pivot away from the standard script towards the theatre of the absurd. We love drama. The Heat are working on "6, 7 and 8 championships" and we trying to steal one game in their arena.

Win on Wednesday and Madison Square Garden becomes the center of the sports universe this weekend.

Win on Wednesday and the reporters questions to the Heat big three carry more sting.

Win on Wednesday and Mike Woodson, with a decimated roster, is elevated to elite status as a tactician and motivator of men.

Win on Wednesday and it is guaranteed Jeremy Lin makes a dramatic entrance during warmups.

Improbable and absurd? Of course.

Is it impossible?

Hell no.

Win on Wednesday and suddenly I won't have to listen to hockey playoff scores before getting to actual real sports like the Knicks and Yankees.

Win on Wednesday and suddenly I won't care if the Sixers advance to the second round.

Win on Wednesday and you will suddenly see concern and possibly fear of failure in LeQueen's eyes, instead of that blank stare.

Win on Wednesday and maybe Spoelstra makes some really disastrous, desperate moves.

Just One Game

jrodmc - you made the call. Well done.

Win on Wednesday and the Heat are suddenly looking more fragile than a roll of Charmin.

Win on Wednesday and Stephen A Smith is being drowned out by the early arrivals at The Garden for the pre game warmups at 5PM.

Win on Wednesday and Charles Barkley is being taunted by Kenny Smith.

Win on Wednesday and a smiling Mike Woodson is in the huddle during a timeout on Friday pleading, "look guys, we've come this far... let's go out and enjoy this moment and give everything you have... we have the crowd at our backs and nothing to lose..."

Win on Wednesday and the world is a better place.

Win One Wednesday, and maybe this board is a better place, along with the rest of the world.

Win on Wednesday, and suddenly there is a series. To be honest, the first round has been awful this year. Every series is 3-1 or was a sweep. It would be nice to make one of the series more competitive.

That being said, our odds in Miami are dismal. I would say a 10% chance of winning. I hope we can pull off the huge upset and force a game 6 in MSG.

And...

Win on Wednesday, and this season was not a waste. There.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Was watching Iman Shumpert mature into a veteran presence in the blink of an eye, a waste?

Solace - How can Linsanity be a waste?

Was the pandemonium of, "Steve Novak from three" a waste?

Were the echoes of "defense" (resonating like "back in the day") a waste?

How can all the bright moments of this nutty, roller coaster season, be a waste?

Odds are for stupid people who follow Las Vegas betting lines. I don't care if the odds are a billion trillion to none, the Knicks have a punchers chance and our boys have gone out without without a fight only a few times this season. They have character, camaraderie and cohesion - despite being reduced to an seven man rotation.

Tyson, Amar'e and Carmelo, for all their perceived warts, are warriors. I could care less about any other team in the first round, or the competitive nature of their series... this is about the Nw York Knicks and we are still in it.

A win in Miami would be too sweet for words.

Remember 1999 and the normally-too-cool Allan Houston punching the air with his fist?

Yes, it's like that.

Only a fool would think the Knicks have a chance tomorrow.

Win Wednesday and the bandwagon seats are already taken.

Standees only.

Game five is a must win for the Miami Heat

One loss on Wednesday and the Heat have to repack their bags for LaGuardia

One loss of Wednesday has Eric Spolestra on the warm seat

One loss on Wednesday and Lebron is surrounded by a sea of microphones

One loss on Wednesday and PTI has a field day. Knicks fan Tony Kornheiser grins through the entire segment.

One loss on Wednesday and Knicks fans overwhelm AA Arena security people and storm the court at the buzzer.

One loss on Wednesday and the Stub Hub web site has a major meltdown.

You heard it here first.

All I want is for the Knicks to do as much damage as possible, even in a losing effort. Don't injure anyone, but drop the hammer with hard fouls, force LeBron to show the world his flopping ability and give those fraud Miami fans at least a minor scare.

I can handle--and expect--a loss, but in the name of Oakley, make these dainty little flowers feel it.

I'd like to see TD play up to what he has done well last season!

Put up 21 pts and a win!

An Upset For The Ages

Nalod - Amar'e, Tyson and Carmelo understand what is riding on this one pivotal game. They are plotting over lunch. Best news is the break gives Amar'e the extra time to heal and for Tyson to catch his breath.

The stubborn Mike Bibby is thinking about an opportunity to put his signature on a nationally televised start in prime time. He understands the playoffs vibe and that is a good thing. His uptempo play will initiate the offense quicker than Baron Davis. The long range passes against Miami should be made with extra care.

Landry Fields should keep shooting. It was his close out of Wade on the last play that forced the bad shot.

The first pine brother to get hot - Smith or Novak - must lead in the second quarter. JR Smith will be needed to advance the ball in a cameo role previously played by Iman Shumpert. Toney Douglas cannot be trusted. Period. Any thoughts of him making a significant contribution are pure Disney fantasy.

Josh Harrellson can start a rumble with Udonis Haslem. Jared Jeffries' 15 minutes can be fun.

Somewhere, Jeremy Lin is thinking about a grand entrance for game 6.

We have a chance, a good chance. After that last win we now know they can be beat. As others said the mental block is gone, we can play loose, not so much the heat.

BUT, the refs can not do what they did those first two games - they better be fair.

Get One

“That’s the excitement part for me. History is definitely not on our side right now. But we believe, and we’re confident that we want to go down there and win this basketball game and bring it back here. We get this one, who knows what can happen?”
