It looks like Woody is gonna be our Coach going forward. The article says that this started last week so it has nothing to do with the win in game 4 (not sure I believe that though).

I am not sure how I feel about it - kinda mixed. I really like what Woodson has done here, inheriting a disaster and turning it around.

I myself really did not want to take any chances and was hoping for them to go after 11 ring wearer PJax. Woody still has a lot to prove while Jackson does not. I think that Jackson would have gotten the most out of our players and turn many of their flaws into strengths.

Perhaps they contacted Jacksons camp and they said that he was not interested - that has happened before.

Good luck Mike and I really hope that you build on what you have resurrected and bring us lots of success.

I really wanted Jackson,I do have my reservations about Woodson. I don't think Woody will have the leverage to guide Melo in the LONG term. This may become a Larry Brown type media circus. Also Lin's development will be thwarted under him. He may even lose his starting role after being marginalized on offense.

But Woody has done well in the regular season and deserves a shot.i really thought Dolan would go after Pjax. I hope they are not stupid enough to bypass him for Woody.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I'm OK with that. I agree that Jackson may not have been interested and they moved on. I would rather have Woodson coaching the Knicks than Calipari. Good coach but I don't like his style. I love how Woodson isn't afraid to call any player out and that's something this team needs badly, and its paid dividends already.

I do hope Mike adds another assistant coach who can help him make some offensive adjustments now and then. If there is any criticism of the job he's done its been his lack of adjustments at times in the playoffs. Woodson seemed better at it in the regular season.

I'm glad that Woody will be our coah moving forward. The guy has done a hell of a job for us this year.

Sorry - but this is typical Knicks garbage.

Lets extend/lock up a guy before we have to. Isiah got his extension when the team squeaked into the 8th play off position for 1 day.

Jackson should be explored. Who knows, maybe they did.

But while Woodson has had to deal with a lot during this play off series injury wise, Melo and Stat, in my opinion, have really showed some mental weakness- and that is where Jackson would help. Even at 70 and in a wheel chair.

D'Antoni was worse when it came to making adjustments. Substitutions, timeouts, you name it.

PJax is the only starphuch coach that makes any sense with this team.

If he is too large a presence for Dolan to handle or feels he cannot manage the ego of StarMelo and Amare than I suppose its best not to create any more drama.

Im sure Brooklyn would provide for him but its not "full Circle" nor is the roster plump with talent.

PJax is an interesting man. I'd dig having him as coach.

Woodson has earned his spot and his players respect him.

For now.

Nothing against Woodson but the Knicks are making a mistake again. There should be no contract talk until Jackson has a chance to coach this team. Woodson will understands.

With Dolan as the owner? PJax doesn't make any sense. Dolan rather have a coach like Woody, who's not going to demand the same control as PJax. Plus, Woody appears to have the ears of Dolan's star players.

This is a win...win for Dolan.

Not sure it's a win for the fans, when you have PJax waiting for another coaching challenge. But I don't think he would accept the current roster, and at this stage of his career, he rather have a sure in championship roster like Miami....

Phil Jackson automatically gives Championship aspirations next year. With that comes increased ticket prices. That is Dolan's most important goal.

Excellent hire if this goes through..A defensive minded coach in a league where u need defense to win...He has the respect of the players..He has a chance to grow with the team...Good hire after the way he led the team to the playoffs down the stretch...Adjustment, Woody added wrinkles in the last game on the offensive end to get the ball to Amare some looks...He knew enough to get the ball to our best players and we made the playoffs!!!..Now add the right pieces and let's compete for the East!!

They might be talking.

Maybe its "Job is yours but we are making one inquiry and if that does not play out your in".

We don't know.

Maybe Pjax has already indicated no interest in the job for a myriad of reasons.

Maybe Knicks never entertained the idea.

from a marketing stand point the expectations would be super high. Its one thing to not succeed with a guy like MDA who is not a star but if PJax did not succeed in winning a championship it would injure the players and maybe fans would turn on them. Its a players league.

Phil has won everywhere. If not here, it would look bad for the team and the players while Phil would come away being ok. Dolan is too insecure to have this? We can't make too many assumptions as we just don't know.

We do know Woodson is ok to feature MeloBall and keep the shine one StarMelo as the face of the franchise. Phil might want to turn Melo into a real leader and hold him accountable. If not successful, and under the scrutiny of NY and the media it could be more than Melo can handle. Melo is a good guy and not cut from the same Jordan/Kobe cloth.

I don't know, I think ur selling Melo a little short..He withstood the media scrutiny after MDA resigned/fired and performed better than anyone expected...When Baron Davis and JR don't give up the ball in a timely fashion, I see them having to explain to Melo why they didn't make the pass or play...This kid is tough and hanging in on the biggest stage in the NBA and folks are just waiting for him to stumble...He is hanging tough...I wanna know what cloth those other guys are cut from?

That's just because it's NY that you think that in my opinion. Woody will quiet all that unnecessary rumble in the offseason, and allow the team to make moves to improve rather than stir up the pot (again). And Woody isn't just a good fit for NY, he's a good fit for this group, at this time, and I hope for good chemistry.

Phil Jackson isn't coming.

He's not going from Jordan, Pippen, Kobe and Shaq to a fat Carmelo Anthony and a one handed Amar'e Stoudemire.

What if Melo commits to a Gastro bypass this off season?

Discussing contract DURING the playoffs? That's ****ing stupid. Nice distraction. Under no circumstances is this a good idea. Common ****ing sense.

If you're happy with his performance, just indicate you'll discuss after the season is over. Do not start negotiating now. That's retarded.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
